Minimum Qualifications (Screen Out Element): Ability to do the work of a(n) Cook ~ without more than normal supervision. To meet the screen out element applicants should document experience performing a full range of common cooking tasks such as pancakes, eggs, grilled sandwiches, and hamburgers; use a variety of cooking equipment to include but not limited to grills, ovens, fryers, and microwaves. - Failure to meet this Screen out Element will result in an ineligible rating.

- PHYSICAL EFFORT: Work involves frequent lifting or moving pans weighing up to 30 pounds (e.g., utensils or containers with food); constant standing and walking; and occasional lifting of over 50 pounds (e.g., pans of meat).
- WORKING CONDITIONS: Incumbents are exposed to soiling of hands by cooking oils, grease, and food. Kitchens are often uncomfortably warm and noisy. Incumbents may be exposed to steam, fumes, and odors from cooking. They are exposed to extremes in temperatures when entering walk-in refrigerators from warm kitchen. There is danger of falling on floors that have been freshly mopped or when food has been spilled; burns from steam or hot foods; and cuts from knives and electrical machines.
