Duties
- Performs a full range of simple cooking by preparing and cooking items that require little or no processing, such as pancakes, sausage, eggs, hamburgers, and fresh or canned vegetables.
- Prepares hot cereals and concentrated or dehydrated soups, sauces and gravies.
- Sets up and replenishes salad bar. Mixes ingredients according to precisely written recipes.
- Weighs, measures, and assembles ingredients for regular and modified menu items.
- Performs other duties as assigned.

- Regular hours of operation will be Tuesday to Saturday from 8:00 a.m. to 11:00 p.m. Hours are flexible with rotating shifts to meet the mission's needs. May include evenings, weekends, holidays, or special events.
- Satisfactory completion of pre-employment checks in accordance with AR 215-3, para.2. to include a medical examination.
- Meet qualification/eligibility/background requirements for this position to include a Tier 1 background investigation for a Common Access Card for physical access to federally-controlled facilities.
- Satisfactory completion of a minimum of 4 hours initial food sanitation and safety training is required within 30 days of employment and a minimum of 4 hours refresher training annually.
- Work involves continual standing and walking, frequent stooping, reaching, pushing, pulling, and bending. Must be able to lift or move objects up to 40 pounds unassisted, and occasionally lift or move objects of over 40 pounds with the assistance.
- Work is performed in kitchen areas, which are well lighted but are often hot and noisy. Exposed to steam, fumes, odors from cooking and to extreme temperature changes when entering walk-in refrigerators or freezing units. Must stand on tile floor.

Posses work experience in preparing foods and cooking simple foods and short orders in a cafeteria, restaurant, or mess.
Demonstration of the following work behavior is desirable:

- Ability to work under pressure
HIGHLY PREFERRED
Are those candidates that possess both the minimum qualifications above and all of the following:
- Possess formal culinary qualifications or certifications.
- Graduated from a culinary arts program.
- Has at least 2 years of experience cooking in a dining facility, restaurant, cafeteria, or mess hall.
