Correctional Facility Paramedic

Job Responsibilities
- Provide emergency assessment and medical care to inmates at a Federal Bureau of Prisons correctional facility.
- Act as the first responder at the scene of sudden illness or emergency, sometimes dealing with life-threatening situations.
- Consult with medical providers to determine appropriate transportation methods to local hospitals.
- Prioritize treatments for patients with multiple issues using established medical emergency procedures, techniques, and equipment.
- Perform emergency triage and maintain the security of the institution as part of your correctional responsibilities.
Requirements and Qualifications
- Must be a U.S. Citizen.
- Education: Two full years of graduate education or a master’s degree related to the field, or equivalent work experience.
- Experience: At least one year of specialized experience equivalent to the next lower grade level, including skills in vital signs assessment, venipuncture, and use of emergency medical equipment.
- Certification: Current, active, and unrestricted National Registry Paramedic (NRP) certification or state Paramedic license.
- Ability to effectively communicate with medical professionals and peers.
- Proficiency in the use of emergency medical equipment and medication administration.
- Eligible candidates may need to undergo urinalysis, physical, and background investigation.
