Duties

POSITION OVERVIEW
The United States District Court for the District of Arizona is accepting applications from qualified candidates for a full-time Courtroom Services Administrator in the Phoenix division. The Courtroom Services Administrator reports directly to the Chief Deputy Clerk and is primarily responsible for oversight of all functions performed by the courtroom deputies and magistrate judge courtroom clerks.

The incumbent performs supervisory work related to the full range of courtroom duties and will be responsible to assist in the formulation, implementation, and assessment of courtroom service policies, as well as other operational practices and procedures. The incumbent will provide leadership and direction in various capacities, including but not limited to workload distribution, project management and employee development. This position involves the application of district specific technical knowledge related to the work being supervised, and professional or supervisory skills related to leading a team of employees to accomplish the work.

REPRESENTATIVE DUTIES
* Supervises subordinate staff. Monitors and reviews the work of subordinate staff ensuring the work is accomplished within established performance standards and timelines.

* Analyzes current courtroom services procedures, best practices from other districts, rules and requirements, and stakeholder interests in order to recommend process improvement initiatives to the Chief Deputy Clerk.

* Acts as subject matter expert regarding courtroom coverage, coordinating courtroom hearings, managing judges' cases, calendaring, monitoring deadlines, monitoring filing of pertinent documents, and timely responses to judicial orders, and courtroom staff training.

*Assesses workflow history and patterns to ensure effective work distribution according to staffing limitations, adequate coverage, transparency, and uniformity in practice; manages unit work product to ensure accuracy of information.

* Recommends and facilitates corrective and disciplinary actions in consultation with the Chief Deputy Clerk, when necessary.

* Performs various personnel tasks including but not limited to the maintenance of staff time and attendance records, interviewing, and selecting staff, drafting, and facilitating performance reviews, and administering performance improvement plans.

At the CL-28 level, applicants must have a minimum of three years of progressively responsible administrative, technical, professional, supervisory or managerial experience that provided an opportunity to gain skill in developing interpersonal work relationships needed to lead a team of employees; the ability to exercise mature judgment; and knowledge of the basic concepts, principles, and theories of management and the ability to understand the managerial policies applicable to the court, including one year of specialized experience at or equivalent to CL-27.

TECHNICAL QUALIFICATIONS:

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
Preference may be given to applicants with a bachelor's degree, preferably in business or public administration or court management. Preference will be given to candidates with prior court experience.

EDUCATION:

High school diploma or equivalent. Bachelor's degree preferred.
