Who May Apply: US Citizens
Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community; student; social). You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience.
There is no specific length of training or experience required. However, you must be able to demonstrate, through experience shown in your written application materials that you possess the sufficient knowledge, skills, and abilities to successfully perform the work of this position without more than normal supervision.
Minimum Qualifications (Screen Out Element): Ability to do the work of a(n) Crane Operator ~ without more than normal supervision. 1) Operating a mobile crane to pick up, position, and/or lower objects 2) Rigging objects to be lifted by a crane using rope slings, wire straps, hooks, or chain slings, and 3) Performing preventative maintenance on mobile cranes (or equivalent experience). - Failure to meet this Screen out Element will result in an ineligible rating.
PHYSICAL EFFORT
Must make continual control changes to allow for unstable motion of floating plant and to work in close quarters. Exercises constant caution to avoid injury to other workers and equipment. Lifting up to 50 lbs.
WORKING CONDITIONS
Works outdoors in all types of weather. Exposed to unpleasant noise, heat, and fumes produced by the engines. Possibility of overturning in the crane due to frequent operating at maximum lifting capacity. Danger of drowning exists when working on or near the water.
