Duties

  • Works under the supervision of the Custodial Worker Supervisor who issues instructions on work sequences, procedures, methods, and deadlines, and relies on the incumbent to assure that work assignments are carried out by other members of the group.
  • Serves as working leader of 3 or more employees in accomplishing trades and labor work. The highest level of non-supervisory work led is Custodial Worker, NA-3566-02
  • Passes on to other workers instructions received from supervisor, and starts work (e.g., by assigning the immediate tasks to be performed by individual members of the group led). Insures that needed equipment, supplies, and materials are available.
  • Sees to it that there is enough work to keep everyone in work crew busy. Checks work in progress and when finished for compliance with supervisor's instructions on work sequence, procedures, methods, and deadlines.
  • Works along with other workers, setting the pace performing non-supervisory work of the same kind and level as that done by the group led.

  • A one-year probationary period may be required.
  • Possesses satisfactory completion of pre-employment background checks in accordance with AR 215-3, 2-13, to include a Tier 1 background investigation.
  • This position may require a health screening. Immunizations may be required as a condition of employment for the health and safety of those in the facility.
  • Required standing and walking on hard and carpeted surfaces with some bending, lifting, carrying, pushing and pulling of items weighing up to 20 to 40 pounds, and occasionally over 50 pounds.
  • Works is usually performed indoors in areas that have adequate heat, light, and ventilation.
  • Exposed to dirt and disagreeable odors, vibration from use of heavy equipment, and to skin irritations from strong cleaning solutions.
  • Care is required to avoid serious injury when working on ladders and when moving heavy furniture and using heavy powered equipment.

Qualifications

1. Must meet the physical requirements of the position.
2. Required is prior work experience that provided the knowledge, skills and ability to perform the duties listed above to include the ability to use and maintain the tools and equipment of the trade, to keep the assigned work area neat and clean, and to communicate both orally and in writing.
3. Must possess good customer service skills in order to interact with people.
4. Preferred is responsible work experience in the hospitality industry that demonstrated the ability to perform the duties stated above with minimal supervision.
5. Ability to Lead other employees.

Best Qualifying Criteria:
1. Possess a minimum of one-year experience in housekeeping
2. Possess a Certified Guestroom Attendant certificate through AHLEI (upload copy of certificate along with application)

PCS Costs
  • Payment Permanent Change of Station (PCS) costs are not authorized, based on a determination that a PCS move is not in the Government's interest.
FWS Allowances and Differentials
  • All FWS employees are entitled to overtime work for work in excess of 8 hours in a day or in excess of 40 hours in the administrative workweek, whichever provides the greater benefit to the employee.
  • Regular full-time, regular part-time (to include those in a limited tenure appointment category) and regularly scheduled flexible employees are entitled to Sunday premium pay when working Sunday shifts. A FWS employee will be paid a night shift differential of 7.5% for the entire shift when a majority of the employee's regularly scheduled non-overtime hours of work occur between the hours of 1500 and 2400. A FWS employee will be paid a night shift differential of 10% of the scheduled rate if a majority of the employee's regularly scheduled non-overtime hours of work occur between the hours of 2300-0800.
