This job has a screen-out element which will be used to determine minimum eligibility for this job. Applicants who do not receive a minimum of two points on the screen-out element(s) will be found ineligible. The Screen-out Element for this position is: ABILITY TO DO THE WORK OF A DECKHAND WITHOUT MORE THAN NORMAL SUPERVISION, performing duties such as:
- Operating deck machinery and/or equipment;
- Handling lines and cables during docking, moving, or towing operations;
- Applying aspects of vessel operation and safety (such as navigation, rules of the road, boat handling, radio procedures, use of safety equipment, mooring and anchoring, vessel machinery, and fire fighting) to assist in the operation and maintenance of water vessels or tug boats.
