Job Overview

We are seeking a Dental Hygienist who is passionate about patient care and interested in enhancing our hospital’s preventive dentistry program. Under the general supervision of a dentist, you will provide direct patient care, performing both clinical and clerical functions independently.

Key Responsibilities

  • Plan and administer a comprehensive preventive dentistry program hospital-wide.
  • Conduct oral prophylaxis for both inpatients and outpatients, while evaluating their health histories.
  • Detect oral pathologies and provide preventive dental instruction.
  • Maintain a clean and organized workplace, adhering to safety protocols with sharps and equipment disinfection.
  • Use VISTA and the Computerized Patient Record System to manage appointments and patient records effectively.
  • Ensure compliance with HIPAA regulations and assist with front desk duties as needed.

Qualifications

  • Education: Associate Degree or higher in Dental Hygiene from an accredited program.
  • Licensure: A full, current, and unrestricted dental hygienist license in a U.S. State, Territory, or the District of Columbia.
  • Experience: Minimum of one year experience at the GS-8 level, demonstrating relevant clinical competencies.
  • Other: Proficiency in English language and completion of a pre-employment physical examination.

Working Conditions

  • Full-time position with work schedules either Monday-Thursday or Tuesday-Friday, 6:45 am - 5:15 pm.
  • Physical presence required; telework is not available.
