Summary

The Deployed Resiliency Counselor (DRC) supervisor oversees credentialed clinical counselors assigned to support a Nuclear Powered Aircraft Carrier (CVN) or Large Deck Amphibious Assault Ship/ Landing Helicopter Assault Ship (LHD/LHA) Commands. DRC supervisors are responsible for providing leadership, direction, supervision, guidance, consultation, assistance, and coordination for all aspects of the DRC program at the installation.

Duties

Duties:
The primary purpose of the position is to provide oversight and coordination of staff providing professional short-term, solution-focused individual and group counseling for commonly occurring life situations and education on resiliency/wellness topics in a shipboard environment, throughout a ship's lifecycle (pier-side, shipyard maintenance, "work-ups" and deployments). The incumbent will also serve as a liaison to the homeport Sexual Assault Response Program (SAPR) ensuring immediate Sexual Assault Prevention and Response Program (SAPR) ensuring immediate sexual assault response and coordination to allegations of sexual assault.

The success of this position is based on the incumbent's ability to successfully lead an embedded mental health program of staff operating within a shipboard environment.

The incumbent successfully:

  • Provides supervisory technical, clinical, and administrative oversight including quality assurance of clinical services.
  • Coordinates the delivery of DRC services to other Navy vessels and tenant commands located in the region, as appropriate, and communicates regularly with military leaders to coordinate DRC services both aboard ships and ashore.
  • Serves as the primary specialist and coordinator for the DRC program and other Fleet and Family Support Program (FFSP) providers, including SAPR, Embedded Integrated Prevention Coordinators (EIPCs), Family Advocacy Program (FAP) case managers, and Sailor Assistance and Intercept for Life (SAIL) program case managers.
  • Maintains knowledge of current SAPR program services and policy requirements to evaluate victim assistance provided.
  • Coordinates the preparation of all required clinical reports and instructions in a timely manner.
  • Develops organizational procedures that promote communication and harmonious working relationships among the staff to develop individual strengths and provide for effective accomplishment of the DRC mission.
  • Assists DRCs with the accomplishment of personal logistics involved in deployment preparation, mid-deployment support, and sea-shore rotations.

  • Must pass all applicable records and background check to include Child Care National Agency Check and Inquiry (CNACI) background check.
  • Must be a U.S. Citizen; must be able to obtain and maintain a Secret Security Clearance.

  • Due to the unique nature of the position, selectee will be required to complete a physical examination upon entry to duty and annually thereafter and be determined to be physical fit for shipboard duty at all times.
  • The work schedule while supporting deployed will vary depending on requirements. The incumbent may be on call to support crisis intervention situations.

Qualifications

The incumbent shall be Tier III qualified as outlined in Navy FFSP Credentials Review and Clinical Privileging requirements. These include:

1) Current, valid, unrestricted state licensure or certification that provides legal authority to provide clinical services as an independent practitioner in the fields of Licensed Professional Counseling, Marriage and Family Therapy, Clinical Social Work, Clinical Psychology or Counseling Psychology; AND

2) Two years, includes at least 2000 hours, full-time post-master's supervised clinical experience; AND

3) Two years, full-time post-license clinical experience; AND

3) A conferred, accredited degree.

Note: When the state or U.S. territory licensing or certification requirements include a written examination, candidates for privileging must have achieved a passing score on that examination.

Education

Basic Requirements: 0101

Bachelor's degree or higher in behavioral or social science; or related discipline as appropriate to the position, such as Marriage and Family Therapy; Mental Health Counseling; or completion of a degree from a program accredited by the Council for Accreditation of Counseling and Related Education Programs (CACREP) AND at least 2 years of direct experience in the prevention intervention, or treatment of child abuse or domestic abuse, or the provision of maternal or child health support services.

OR

Combination of education and experience that provided knowledge of one or more of the behavioral or social sciences equivalent to a major in the field, including at least 2 years of direct experience in the prevention intervention, or treatment of child abuse or domestic abuse, or the provision of maternal or child health support services.

OR

Four years of appropriate experience that demonstrates acquired knowledge of one or more of the behavioral or social sciences equivalent to a major in the field, including at least 2 years of direct experience in the prevention intervention, or treatment of child abuse or domestic abuse, or the provision of maternal or child health support services.

OR

Basic Requirements: 0180Doctoral degree (Ph.D or equivalent) directly related to full professional work in clinical psychology AND 5 years of specialized experience.

OR

Basic Requirements: 0185

Master's degree in social work from a school accredited by the Council on Social Work Education AND 5 years of specialized experience.

AND

Possess one of the following degrees:

(1) Master's degree from a program accredited by the Council for Accreditation of Counseling and Related Education Programs or an equivalent degree.

(2) Master's degree from a program accredited by the Commission on Accreditation for Marriage and Family Therapy Education or an equivalent degree.

(3) Master's degree in Social Work from a graduate school of Social Work accredited by the Council on Social Work Education or an equivalent degree.

(4) Doctoral degree in clinical or counseling psychology from an American Psychological Association (APA) accredited university or professional school and a 1-year APA accredited clinical internship.
