The United States Space Force (USSF) at Peterson SFB, Colorado Springs, Colorado is searching for a Deputy Director for SYD 85 (NH-1101-04, GS-14/15 equivalent).
Description:
This is an expert-level position serving as the civilian deputy and key program administrator for an O-6 level Space Systems Command, System Delta. SYD 85 is responsible for modernizing sensors, networks, data systems, command, control, and battle management software systems, antennas, and intelligence systems in support of space superiority. The incumbent is a functional expert who heads a major division and directs challenging and innovative program development with only general guidance on policy and planning. This role is responsible for developing solutions to highly complex problems, fulfilling all program objectives, and making authoritative decisions that significantly impact the success of major acquisition programs and the well-being of substantial numbers of people. This is a Critical Acquisition Position (CAP), with 51% or more of time spent in direct support of acquisition-related duties.
Ideal Candidate:
Comprehensive knowledge of the policies, practices, regulations, and laws concerning the acquisition management process and initiatives. Expert knowledge of safety and security regulations, practices, and procedures. In-depth knowledge of the missions, roles, functions, organizational structures, and operation of the DoW, Space Force, and organizations that govern, interface with, and/or influence the systems acquisition process. Mastery-level skill to plan, organize, and direct the functions and staff in critical aspects of development, production, and support of systems, subsystems, or equipment and to coordinate various aspects of systems acquisition such as engineering, contracting, financial management, configuration, test, and manufacturing. Demonstrated ability to lead, mentor, motivate, appraise, and work with subordinate supervisors and non-supervisory employees to build a high-performing organization. Superior ability to communicate effectively, both orally and in writing, with technical accuracy and to use modern office software to gather, analyze, and present program information, make sound judgments, and effectively communicate recommendations to senior leadership and contractors.

Ability to communicate effectively, both orally and in writing, clearly, concisely, with technical accuracy and to use computers and a variety of software programs and databases, gather and analyze a variety of program information, make sound judgments concerning program progress, and effectively communicate recommendations orally and in writing to higher organizational management and contractors.
