The United States Space Force (USSF) Space Systems Command (SSC) at Los Angeles Air Force Base, California is searching for a Deputy Director of Human Capital (NH-0201-04, GS-14/15 Equivalent).

Leading the scaling and enhancement of core people functions. Provide broad support to the S1 Director, including assumption of duties and responsibilities in the Director's absence. Works in conjunction with the S1 Director in planning, organizing, and directing the activities of assigned programs or projects for the Command, division or organization. Develops goals and objectives that integrate Space Force mission and personnel policy objectives. Provides support to the Command level S1 management of five major geographically separated units including the 45th Space Launch Delta and the 30th Space Launch Delta. Establishes, revises, or reviews policies, procedures, mission objectives, and organization design for the staff to speed up their outcomes, eliminate work problems or barriers to mission accomplishment, promote team building, implement quality improvements, or in response to concerns with statutory and regulatory compliance and/or customer requirements. Represents Space Systems Command with a variety of agency, command, installation and functional area organizations.

Collaborator, and integrator of 5 divisions and an admin team in support of S1 Human Capital Directorate. Self-starter who can think and act strategically and operate, when necessary, at the tactical level. Personnel/force support/manpower background strongly desired, preferably from DOD (not mandatory).
Key Skills and Abilities:
1. Expert knowledge of a wide range of Human Capital laws, executive orders, regulations, policies, directives, instructions, and concepts governing functions such as force management, training and development, succession planning, talent acquisition, talent management, engagement, performance or other programs related to personnel management within the federal government.
2. Knowledge of the mission, roles, functions, organizational structures, and operation of DOD and Space Force organizations to provide HQ-level staff guidance on technical activities.
3. Ability to plan, organize, and direct the functions and supervise, mentor, motivate, and appraise the staff of an organization through subordinate supervisors.
4. Ability to analyze, plan, and adjust work operations of subordinate organizational segments to meet program requirements and objectives within available resources.
5. Ability to communicate, both orally and in writing, clearly, concisely, and with technical accuracy.
6. Ability to multi-process and continuously adjust priorities.
7. Understanding of the value of a diverse workforce, and dedication to ensuring equal opportunity in all aspects of employment.
8. Considerable knowledge of the trends and modern technology now being implemented in the human resources fields.
9. Ability to develop long term plans and goals for the human resources programs.
