Duties
The United States Space Force (USSF) Space Systems Command (SSC) at Los Angeles Space Force Base is searching for 2 Deputy System Program Directors (SPD) to support SYD 88 & SYD 831 (NH-1101-04, GS-14/15 Equivalent).
Description:
SYD 88 - If selected, you will serve as the Deputy System Program Director (SPD) for the Protected Tactical SATCOM Acquisition Programs including the Protected Tactical Enterprise System (PTES), Protected Tactical SATCOM-Resilient/Prototypes (PTS-R/P), Protected Tactical SATCOM-Global (PTS-G), Engineering Management & Control (EM&C), and Wideband Global SATCOM (WGS).
SYD 831 - If selected, you will serve as the Deputy System Program Director (SPD) for the Navigation Warfare and Positioning, Navigation, & Timing programs for the United States
Space Force.
You will join a dynamic leadership team in the program office, providing Ultra High Frequency or wideband satellite communications to our nation and allied partners. This role requires strong leadership skills, attention to detail, creative problem solving, and motivation to achieve mission success by collaborating across a diverse, geographically-separated team.
You must be able to work independently, planning, organizing and coordinating programmatic actions across various engineering, financial, legal, security, public affairs and contracting offices, both internal and external to Space Systems Command (SSC), USSF. Strong communication skills are critical, both oral and written, with a focus on clear, concise and technically-accurate dialogue that synchronizes efforts across government and contractor organizations. In addition, the duties of this position require the ability to analyze, negotiate, and resolve complex issues while maintaining good working relationships. As part of our leadership team, you are expected to train, develop, mentor, and motivate junior civilian and military program managers.
Ideal Candidate:
- Experience in Acquisition Program Management within a Systems Program Office (SPO)
- Experience managing Contractor performance on warfighting system contracts through design, production, testing, and delivery phases
- Experience in acquisition strategy, incentivized contract vehicles, other transaction authority, and pushing programs throughout the life cycle.
- Experience supervising personnel including establishing employee contribution plans and conducting performance assessments
SYD 88 - The position requires expertise in satellite communications knowledge.
SYD 831 - The position requires expertise in navigation warfare and/or positioning, navigation, & timing
domain knowledge.

- Ability to supervise, mentor, motivate, appraise, and work with subordinate supervisors and non-supervisory employees.

- Ability to communicate effectively, both orally and in writing, clearly, concisely, with technical accuracy and to use computers and a variety of software programs and databases, gather and analyze a variety of program information, make sound judgments concerning program progress, and effectively communicate recommendations orally and in writing to higher organizational management and contractors.

- Must be a U.S Citizen.
- Must be able to obtain and maintain a Top-Secret / SCI security clearance.
- Safeguards classified or sensitive budget-related information and/or files.
- May be required to work overtime on an unscheduled or emergency basis.
- Eligible for situational telework only, including Emergency and OPM prescribed “Unscheduled Telework”.
- This position will close after 5 business days or 75 applications, whichever comes first.
- Employee may be required to perform travel by military or commercial passenger aircraft in the performance of temporary duty assignments.
- PCS / Incentive funding is authorized.
- This position is designated as a Testing Designated Position (TDP) under the Air Force Civilian Drug Testing Program.
- Subject to Temporary Duty Assignment (TDY): 20 days a year.
- Employee must within 30-days of assuming this position and by 31 October annually thereafter, file an OGE-450, “Confidential Financial Disclosure Report.
- This position is designated a NON-CRITICAL APDP position.
- Furlough Indicator: E - Exempt from Furlough.
- Selectee must meet level 3 certification requirements or be able to meet them within 24 months of assignment (with a waiver).
- This position has been designated as an acquisition position and is covered by the Acquisition Professional Development Program (APDP).
