Summary

This is a Direct Hire Authority (DHA) solicitation utilizing the DHA for Certain Personnel of the DoD Workforce to recruit and appoint qualified candidates to positions in the competitive service.

Duties

  • Conduct investigations to apprehend and/or to detain persons committing crimes.
  • Analyze data to identify suspects and develop case information to formally press charges.
  • Testify at trials, hearing, court materials and other federal judiciary proceedings regarding results of the investigation.
  • Perform Surveillance on suspects, crime scenes, and suspected criminal activity.
  • Write technical reports pertaining to investigation findings.
  • Prepare and serve civil arrest reports, accountability reports, paperwork to correctional institutions, and arrest reports for service members by civil law enforcement authorities.
  • Responsible for proper documentation and safeguard of all evidence obtained during investigations.
  • Ensure adequate measures are taken to provide temporary holding and transportation of court evidence.
  • Ensure evidence holding facilities are properly maintained.
  • Serve as the point of contact for civil law enforcement agencies and serves due process to military and civilian personnel on the installation.
  • Assist in serving outstanding arrest warrants and civil documentation.
  • Facilitate informal resolution of issues arising due to jurisdictional or procedural differences between military and civilian agencies.
  • Coordinate the transfer of detainees from civilians to military control.

  • Must obtain and maintain a Secret security clearance.
  • Requires working irregular hours and weekend to include being on call.
  • This position is subject to a pre-employment screening, and random testing thereafter.

  • This position is subject to the provisions of the Domestic Violence Offender Gun Ban commonly referred to as the Lautenberg Amendment.
  • This position has a Temporary Duty (TDY) or business travel requirement of 10% of the time.
  • The duties of this position require the incumbent to possess or obtain and maintain a valid state Driver's License.
  • Successfully graduated from the United States Army Civilian Police Academy or graduate within a one year of hire date, unless incumbent has a current approved waiver/exemption or grandfathered from the Office of the Provost Marshal General.
  • Successfully graduated from the USAMPS Military Police Investigator Course or complete within one year of hire date.
  • Incumbent is subject to possible civil and criminal action due to improper exercises of authority or injudicious use of force in the apprehension or detention of individuals.
  • Incumbent must be able to successfully pass training, certification and qualification requirements related to law enforcement work functions as prescribed by policy, regulations or statutes.
  • Comply with and maintain the requirements of the Individual Reliability Program (IRP) IAW 190-56.
  • This position requires the incumbent to pass an annual Physical Ability Test (PAT) and perform the functions of the position to standards published in Army Regulation (AR) 190-56 and maintain a level of fitness to physically perform the position.
  • Incumbent must meet the requirements of AR 190-56 and successfully pass a pre-employment and recurring medical evaluation.
  • Appointment to this position is subject to a one year probationary period unless the appointee has previously met the requirements as described in 5 CFR Part 11.

In order to qualify, you must meet the experience requirements described below. Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community; student; social). You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience. Specialized Experience: One year of specialized experience in the federal service which include 1) Conducting investigations into alleged or suspected violations of criminal law and military regulations in accordance with laws, ordinances, regulations, and policies; 2) Responding to crime scenes to collect and preserve evidence; and 3) preparing case records to include investigation findings and recommendations. This definition of specialized experience is typical of work performed at the next lower grade/level position in the federal service (GS-07).

Some federal jobs allow you to substitute your education for the required experience in order to qualify. For this job, you must meet the qualification requirement using experience alone -- no substitution of education for experience is permitted.
