The United States Space Force (USSF) at Vandenberg SFB, Lompoc, CA is searching for a Digital Culture Lead Trainer, SLD 30 (NH-1701-03, GS-12/13 Equivalent).

Description:
The Space Launch Delta 30's Digital Transformation Office is seeking an motivated, technically proficient, agent of change to accelerate the adoption and utilization of groundbreaking, industry leading technologies! Would you like your week to be filled to the brim with pushing Artificial Intelligence, Machine Learning, Workflow Automation, creative problem solving. Oh, and not to mention Rocket Launches! This is the role for you! As the digital culture lead trainer, you will be directly at the helm of leading technical training workshops, interfacing with small business innovative research projects injecting new capabilities into our high-volume Spaceport.

You'll have ample opportunity to travel to centers of gravity like the Enterprise Digital Transformation Office, Cape Canaveral Space Force Station, The Bridge Innovation Center in Los Angeles, CA, and many more Space or Air Force Locations. You'll be set up with digital tools (Palantir Foundry, Plotly Dash, Qualtrics, MSFT Azure AI, NIPRGPT, and more), individual training/upskilling opportunities through DigitalU, and growth opportunities in digital literacy, digital engineering, and new teaching methods.

The team you'll be joining has a proven track record of delivering Space Force wide results across the launch, range, personnel, cybersecurity, and business management mission areas and you will have equal opportunity to strategically succeed at the Best Spaceport and installation In the entire Department of Defense. You will also lead organizational culture change in a very dynamic civilian workforce environment as we reskill the workforce to enhance agility and responsiveness into our Spaceport.


Ideal Candidate:
An ideal candidate for the SLD 30 Digital Culture Lead Trainer possesses strong technical experience on implementing and training personnel on new novel technologies. A track record of successful information technology implementation; software development and delivery; or new system adoption across large (50-100+) person organizations. The candidate must have strong verbal and written communication skills; methodical and meticulous action tracking; and relatively current (within last year) experience performing analytic, scripting, coding, or AI/ML engineering tasks. These are specific areas where the SLD 30 Digital Transformation Office and SLD 30 Leadership are pushing our federal workforce to upskill in. An ability to apply simple analogies to complex problems is a must to articulate resonating information to a wide breadth of personnel. Having USSF experience is preferred but not required and having Test/Evaluation experience is preferred but not required.


Key Skills and Abilities:
1. Professional knowledge of learning theory and the principles, methods, practices, and techniques of the instructional systems field to administer, advise on, design, develop, or provide educational or training services.
2. Demonstrated success in curating, developing, and delivering training curriculum fostering digital skills and knowledge.
3. Knowledge of and ability to follow foundational instructional design processes to analyze, research, design and write educationally sound instructional materials for use in classroom instruction.
4. Working knowledge of training resources programs, principles, and policies.
5. Demonstrated understanding of technology and digital transformation tools.
6. Skill in establishing and maintaining effective relationships, building consensus and coalitions, negotiating, and resolving conflicts with a variety of individuals and organizations.
7. Proven skill in composing and delivering effective presentations both orally and in writing.
8. Demonstrated leadership skills, both in building teams and influencing SLD 30 strategic outcomes.
9. Growth mindset and a willingness to learn new skills, technologies, and frameworks.
10. Knowledge of quality function deployment and business process reengineering.

Conditions of Employment

  • Must be a U.S. Citizen.
  • Employees must be able to obtain and maintain a Secret clearance.
  • Required to handle and safeguard sensitive and/or classified information in accordance with regulations to reduce potential compromise; must obtain and maintain the appropriate security clearance for the position.

  • Bachelor’s degree in education, Learning Design Technology, Industrial Engineering, Information Systems Management, Computer Systems, Systems Engineering Management, Strategic Management, Instructional / Performance Technology or Business Management.
  • May be required to travel by military or commercial aircraft within CONUS or to downrange sites in the performance of Temporary Duty Assignments (TDY).
  • Eligible for situational telework only, including Emergency and OPM prescribed "Unscheduled Telework"
  • PCS/Relocation funding is available.
  • May be subject to recall during other than normal duty hours and may be required to work overtime on an unscheduled or emergency basis.
  • Subject to Temporary Duty Assignment (TDY): Approximately 15 days per year
