Experience requirements are described in the Office of Personnel Management (OPM) Qualification Standards for General Schedule Positions, Administrative and Management Support Positions.
SPECIALIZED EXPERIENCE: Applicant must have, or within 120 days of the closing date of this announcement will have, at least 3 years of general experience, 1 year of which is equivalent to Federal experience at the next lower grade (GS-04), level, pay band (NJ-01). Specialized experience is described as: performing basic oversight and supervision for a designated classroom for children ages 6 weeks through 5 years. Assisted with the design and implementation of a variety of activity plans to stimulate and sustain the interest of children and to contribute to their social, emotional, cognitive, and physical development.

EDUCATION: Applicant must have successfully completed a 4-year course of study leading to a bachelor's degree NOTE: You must submit a copy of your transcripts.

COMBINATION OF EXPERIENCE AND EDUCATION: Applicant must have equivalent combinations of successfully completed education and specialized experience directly related to the work of the position as outlined above that meets the requirements of the position. NOTE: You must submit a copy of your transcripts.
Must be able to complete CPR, pediatric first aid including rescue breathing and additional training requirements. Training nay be conducted during weekend and evening hours.
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES (KSAs): Your qualifications will be evaluated on the basis of your level of knowledge, skills, abilities and/or competencies in the following areas:
- Knowledge of Child Development regulations, procedures, and processes.
- Knowledge of early child development theory, methodology, and practices relating to physical, cognitive, social, and emotional development.
- Knowledge of Child Development Center regulations, programs, and operations.
- Ability to develop creative and innovative activity and special program plans.
- Ability to promote and foster effective working relationships with others to communicate effectively, both orally and in writing.
PART-TIME OR UNPAID EXPERIENCE: Credit will be given for appropriate unpaid and or part-time work. You must clearly identify the duties and responsibilities in each position held and the total number of hours per week.
VOLUNTEER WORK EXPERIENCE: Refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service Programs (i.e., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community; student and social). Volunteer work helps build critical competencies, knowledge and skills that can provide valuable training and experience that translates directly to paid employment. You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience.
