Summary

This is a Direct Hire Authority (DHA) solicitation utilizing the DHA for Domestic Defense Industrial Base (DIB) and Major Range and Test Facilities Base (MRTFB) to recruit and appoint qualified candidates to positions in the competitive service.

Duties

  • Perform a variety of duties in the installation, maintenance and repair of electrical wiring systems, related switches, distribution panels and outlet boxes, as well as a wide variety of electrical fixtures, tools, and appliances.
  • Measure, cut, thread, bend, assemble, and install conduits, inserting, splicing, and connecting wires to fixtures, outlets, switches, receptacles, and Power source.
  • Follow maintenance schedules and inspections or work orders, performs maintenance services, diagnoses system or equipment malfunction, and repairs as necessary.
  • Perform a full range of testing on circuits and equipment by use of voltmeter, ammeter, wattmeter, and ohmmeter.
  • Repair, test, and adjust a variety of equipment circuitry and fixtures such as, electrical buzzer and bell circuits, light sockets, lighting fixtures, fans, switches, office and heating appliances.

  • Appointment may be subject to a suitability or fitness determination, as determined by a completed background investigation T1 NACI.
  • Completion of a pre-employment Physical Examination and an annual examination thereafter to ensure the continued, required level of physical health and ability or fitness to perform the duties of the position.
  • Appointment to this position is subject to a one year probationary period unless the appointee has previously met the requirements as described in 5 CFR Part 315.
  • Business travel of 25% of the time.
  • Position designated in the event of severe weather conditions or other such emergency type situations (natural or man-made disaster) the incumbent is required to report to work or remain at work as scheduled to support mission operations.
  • Incumbent must obtain and maintain an Ariel Platform Certification.
  • Incumbent must obtain and maintain Material Handling Equipment (MHE) license.
  • Position require the incumbent to possess or obtain and maintain a valid state Driver's License in one of the 50 U.S. states or possessions to operate vehicles.

Qualifications

However, you must be able to demonstrate, through experience shown in your written application materials that you possess the sufficient knowledge, skills, and abilities to successfully perform the work of this position without more than normal supervision.

To meet the basic eligibility, you must receive at least two points on the screen-out element indicated above and must have an average of two points on all the job elements listed below. Minimum Qualifications (Screen Out Element): Ability to do the work of an ELECTRICIAN ~ without more than normal supervision. 1)Installation, maintenance and repair of industrial electrical wiring systems, related switches, distribution panels, transformers and outlet boxes, as well as a wide variety of electrical fixtures, tools, and appliances using drawings, blueprints and diagrams 2)wiring and connecting high voltage 480V/400amp three phase panels; 3)inspecting, installing and repairing industrial electrical service; and 4)performing tests using oscilloscope, voltmeter, ammeter, wattmeter, analyzers, megers and ohmmeter. - Failure to meet this Screen out Element will result in an ineligible rating.

PHYSICAL EFFORT

Works on ladders, scaffolds and in hard to reach areas. Work involves frequent standing, stooping, climbing, bending and kneeling, and occasionally in cramped and awkward positions. Long periods of standing, bending or kneeling are often required. Required to lift and handle objects weighing 20 pounds; often lifts and moves heavier objects with the assistance of other workers, lifting devices and aids such as movable tables or jacks.

WORKING CONDITIONS

The work is done inside and outside, and is usually dirty, dusty, and greasy; on scaffolding or cranes at heights of 30 or more feet; and in close quarters such as manholes, or attics. Required to make repairs and installations outside in bad weather and work areas that are noisy. Subject to injury from falling, electrical Shock, burns and rotary devices such as electrical motors.
