In order to qualify, you must meet the quality level of experience requirements described in the Office of Personnel Management (OPM) Qualification Standards Handbook X-118C.
QUALIFICATIONS: Applicants will be rated in accordance with the OPM Qualification Standard Handbook X-118C for the WG-2800 Electrical Installation And Maintenance Family. Although a specific length of time and experience is not required for most blue-collar positions, you must meet any screen-out element listed, and show through experience and training that you possess the quality level of knowledge and skill necessary to perform the duties of the position at the level for which you are applying. Qualification requirements emphasis is on the quality of experience, not necessarily the length of time.

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities
- Knowledge of safety regulations, practices and procedures.
- Knowledge of technical practices in order to plan, lay out, install, modify, troubleshoot and repair a variety of complete systems.
- Knowledge of electronic theory and circuits and basic logic circuits for power, timing and motion controls, indicating and counting mechanisms, similar devices and a variety of technical data, such as schematics, diagrams and technical orders relating to the electronics trade.
- Knowledge of electrical and electronic theory and instruments used in shop and trade practices and of electrical equipment, ie., test lamps, multimeters. circuit/power analyzers, circuit breakers testers, voltage recording meters, meggers, watt meters, ohm meters and ammeters.
- Skill in using and maintaining hand tools such as screwdrivers, pliers, wire-cutters, strippers, cable pullers, drills, soldering irons and manual or power conduit benders and threaders.
- Skill in troubleshooting and tracing hard to locate defects or problems.
- Ability to use electrical drawings, blueprints, engineering drawings and wiring diagrams and to install, troubleshoot, repair and maintain various electrical systems, controls, and equipment without more than normal.
