Duties

  • Maintain, modify, install, repair, program and test a variety of simple to complex electronic equipment used in these categories: communication, control process computers and supervisory control systems.
  • Responsible for the operation, troubleshooting, updating control values, maintenance and repair of the Industry Personal Computers (IPCs) and Programmable Logic Control (PLC) systems.
  • Perform preventative maintenance functions by troubleshooting system and equipment malfunctions and making repairs.
  • Monitor contractual efforts when repair or replacement units are being installed and ensures integration into the automated system.
  • Perform journey-person electrical work, such as electrical installation, maintenance and repair work.
  • Plan, lays out, install, maintain, and repair complete electric wiring systems, related switches, distribution panels, motor controllers, and a wide variety of electrical fixtures, tools, and equipment.
  • Perform diagnosis, maintenance, repair, testing, and installation of essential electrical equipment, systems, and incoming power lines.
  • Perform work by interpreting, applying, and utilizing acceptable techniques in accordance with National Electrical codes, specifications and safe practices.

  • Must obtain and maintain a valid state driver's license.
  • Pre-employment physical is required to include red/green color blindness testing and fit testing for respirator.
  • Position is subject to the Medical Surveillance Program requiring annual physicals.
  • May be required to be on call to provide coverage in case of an emergency on evenings, weekends, holidays, and in other situations.

For the WY-08: Minimum Qualifications (Screen Out Element): Ability to do the work of a(n) ELECTRONIC INTEGRATED SYSTEMS MECHANIC~ without more than normal supervision. I have the ability to perform tasks associated with the repair and maintenance to electronic and electrical equipment. I can perform work such as repairing, adjusting, and aligning integrated electronic systems. I can use hand and power tools and wide variety of test equipment (e.g., cutters and strippers, drills, soldering irons, test meters and lamps, etc.); and can check hydraulic and other fluid levels and replace as required. I work under normal supervision of a work leader or journey-level employee who observes tasks in progress and upon completion to make sure they are properly performed. - Failure to meet this Screen out Element will result in an ineligible rating.

For the WY-10: Minimum Qualifications (Screen Out Element): Ability to do the work of a(n) ELECTRONIC INTEGRATED SYSTEMS MECHANIC~ without more than normal supervision. I have the ability to perform common journey level tasks associated with the repair and maintenance of electronic and electrical equipment. I can perform work such as diagnosing, modifying, overhauling, repairing and maintaining a variety of electronic devices, equipment and components; and perform routine installation, maintenance, repair, modification, troubleshoot, load and test new and repair existing electrical lines, equipment circuits, systems, fixtures, and controls. I understand effects of malfunctions throughout interrelated units. I work under normal supervision of a work leader or journey-level employee who observes tasks in progress and upon completion to make sure they are properly performed. - Failure to meet this Screen out Element will result in an ineligible rating.

For the WY-11: Minimum Qualifications (Screen Out Element): Ability to do the work of a(n) ELECTRONIC INTEGRATED SYSTEMS MECHANIC~ without more than normal supervision. I have the ability to perform some journey level tasks associated with the repair and maintenance of electronic and electrical equipment. I can perform work such as diagnosing, modifying, overhauling, repairing and maintaining a variety of electrical and electronic devices, equipment and components such as motors, generators, controllers, interior communication equipment, switchboards, transformers, panels, appliances, intercoms, telephone systems and equipment, and various warning, indicating, monitoring and detection systems (audio and visual). I have the ability read and follow color codes, schematics, blueprints and wiring diagrams to install and operate electronic and electrical equipment I work under normal supervision of a work leader or journey-level employee who observes tasks in progress and upon completion to make sure they are properly performed. - Failure to meet this Screen out Element will result in an ineligible rating.

  • PHYSICAL EFFORT: The Electronic Integrated Systems Mechanic uses light to moderate physical exertion is required in lifting and carrying items weighing from 10 to 40 pounds and occasional objects weighing in excess of 40 pounds. Mechanics are required to stoop, bend, and stand for extended periods of time on concrete or composition floors. On some assignments they must climb 20 to 50 foot towers. Electricians make repairs and installations from ladders, scaffolding, platforms, and other hard-to-reach places. Work requires standing, stooping, bending, kneeling, arduous climbing, and working in tiring and uncomfortable positions. Generally, items lifted or carried do not exceed 20-25 pounds, and, less often, up to 40 pounds. Occasionally, they lift or move with assistance moderately heavy objects weighing more than 40 pounds. Must be able to distinguish between colors.
  • WORKING CONDITONS: Work is performed inside and outside, both onsite and offsite, in a number of locations, such as administrative and shop buildings, control tower, pump well, tunnels, machinery wells, and facilities along the Montlake Cut. Work areas include installed ladders, portable ladders, or a portable upright aluminum telescoping scaffold at heights of 30 feet or more and confined spaces which are difficult to access. Mechanics are subject to injuries such as cuts and bruises, falls, potential for drowning, as well as burns caused by electrical shock, and soldering irons. Electricians are exposed to noise; to contact with dirt, dust, grease, and soiling on hands and clothing; to shocks and bums from high voltage; to cuts and bruises; to danger of falling from ladders or scaffolding; and to rotary devices such as electrical motors. Work is performed near or over water, on or around boats/vessels, and outside during inclement weather. Personal protective equipment such as lifejacket, goggles, rubber gloves and rubber mat, respirator, and safety harness, will be required as needed. Ability to drive a motor vehicle is required to complete work at offsite locations.
