NOTE: Individual selected will receive an Indefinite Appointment and may be converted to permanent based on availability of funds or position no longer being encumbered.

This position is located at the 162nd Wing in Tucson, Arizona. Its purpose is to inspect, test, troubleshoot, repair and modify software controlled automated and manually controlled test stations, ECM Pods, peripherals, support equipment and associated subsystems. The stations are used to repair and maintain all avionics line-replaceable units (LRUs) and Pods.

Conditions of employment

• ARIZONA AIR NATIONAL GUARD MEMBERSHIP IS REQUIRED. Prior to appointment into this position, selectee must be a current member of the Arizona Air National Guard, in a military position assigned to 162nd WG.
• This is an excepted service position that requires membership in a compatible military assignment in the employing state's National Guard, required prior to the effective date of placement.
• Selectee will be required to wear the military uniform.
• Acceptance of an excepted service position constitutes concurrence with these requirements as a condition of employment.
• Applicants who are not currently a member of the National Guard must be eligible for immediate membership and employment in the National Guard in the military grade listed in this announcement.
• Males born after 31 December 1959 must be registered for Selective Service.

SPECIALIZED EXPERIENCE:

WG-2610-12: Must possess at least the AFSC 2A031, with 12+ months of work experience that involved duties such as, inspecting, testing, troubleshooting, repairing and modifying software controlled automated and manually controlled test stations, electronic circuit maintenance pods, peripherals, support equipment and associated subsystems. Knowledgeable of stations that are used to repair and maintain all avionics line-replaceable units and pods. Skilled in analyzing performance, running tests, conducting inspections, troubleshooting, identifying and isolating malfunctions, disassembling, modifying or repairing and reassembling the test stations or electronic circuit maintenance pods and their associated peripherals. Skilled in reading the complex inter-related variables that resulted from a mix of computer hardware and software, stimulus and measurement systems, and special purpose test subsystems. Experiences involved analyzing malfunctions using schematics, logic and wiring diagrams, programming tables, computer program flow charts, software user guides, computer program listings and factory drawings. Skilled in diagnosing circuit operating characteristics using computer query, system peculiar test equipment, and computer diagnostics. Experienced in isolating problems to the failing part using equipment such as, self-test diagnostics, oscilloscopes, frequency meters, signal generators, digital, and differential voltmeters, computer registers and printouts and other special and standard tools and test equipment. Competent in removing and replacing components, assemblies, sub-assemblies, or parts using special and common hand tools, soldering devices and special electronic instruments. Experiences involved modifying and updating avionics pods; or, support equipment and support software according to applicable technical publications. Competent to analyze program data and determined if the criteria are sufficient to provide adequate testing and troubleshooting. Skilled in examining recurring malfunctions and software deficiencies and determined testing voids and initiated corrective action by submitting quality deficiency reports, software deficiency reports, or proposed modifications. Experiences included connecting associated testing equipment to interface the test station system to the aircraft system and pod; facilitated maintenance and repair of pod or line replaceable units from the avionics systems such as radar, fire control, instrument, flight control, inertial FWS navigation, malfunction analysis and recording equipment systems. Competent in determining if failures are caused by the unit under test. Skilled to identify a malfunction and isolated it to the specific component(s). Skilled in the task of disassembling and repairing or replacing solid state devices, micro miniature modules, gyros, sensors, transducers, and any other required parts; followed by the reassembly and performed operational tests. Experiences may have included the identification of test program malfunctions and informing engineers and/or Air Force Logistics Command of the problems. Experienced in the development and/or modification of software, interfaces, extender equipment, or additional items of test equipment or completed work in validating technical data concerning the repair, maintenance, and test of the test station and units under test. Competent in processing and accounting for due-in-from-maintenance supply assets. Skilled in documenting maintenance repair actions and man-hour accounting on maintenance forms and computer systems. Skilled in maintaining historical data of repaired components and of the test stations. Skilled in complying with safety, fire, security, and housekeeping regulations. Experienced in the procedures involved with the proper storage, protection, and maintenance of all work-related material and equipment.

Must have the AFSC 2A071 with 12+ months of specialized experiences working as an Electronic Integrated Systems Mechanic, WG-2610-12, and the following specialized experience that involved duties such as, inspecting, testing, troubleshooting, repairing and modifying software controlled automated and manually controlled test stations, electronic circuit maintenance pods, peripherals, support equipment and associated subsystems. Knowledgeable of stations that are used to repair and maintain all avionics line-replaceable and pods. Skilled in analyzing performance results, running tests, inspecting, trouble-shooting, identifying and isolating malfunctions. Experienced in how to disassemble, modify or repair and reassemble test stations or electronic circuit maintenance pods and their associated peripherals. Skills include the ability to consider the complex inter-related variables arising from a mix of computer hardware and software, stimulus and measurement systems, and special purpose test subsystems. Your qualifications will be evaluated on the following competencies (knowledge, skills, abilities and other characteristics):

1. Knowledge of electronic theories and practices of integrated electronic, pneumatic, hydraulic, optical, and mechanical systems of such applications as digital or analog computers, digital display devices which enable the incumbent to understand and predict the effects of subsystem malfunctions on the total function system.

2. Ability to apply electronic theories and practices to identify, isolate and repair malfunctions in one or more complex integrated systems where knowledge of the entire system is necessary to interpret error data and trace problems back through a number of units of the system to locate deficiencies.

3. Ability to accurately identify, isolate, repair, align, and adjust complete multi-system complex malfunctions of the aircraft where target acquisition and tracking, weapons control, aircraft attitude control, navigation and other complex functions are performed by numerous systems which are extensively interconnected with data feedback loops.

4. Ability to isolate malfunctions of complete multiple integrated system complexes consisting of closely interrelated integrated and non-integrated systems.

5. Working knowledge of the Technical Order system and other technical publications and directives relating to the section. Current certification in high reliability soldering techniques, as well as electrostatic discharge protective techniques.
