THIS IS A NATIONAL GUARD TITLE 32 EXCEPTED SERVICE POSITION.

This National Guard position is for a ELECTRONIC INTEGRATED SYSTEMS MECHANIC (Title 32), Position Description Number D2240P01 and is part of the IL 182 AW, National Guard.

Duties

As an ELECTRONIC INTEGRATED SYSTEMS MECHANIC (Title 32), WG-2610-13, you will install, modify, overhaul, maintain, troubleshoot, repair, align, calibrate, and rebuild multi-system avionics complexes consisting of multiple completely integrated electronic avionics systems where the complex accomplishes a number of major functions. The worker in this career field must demonstrate the ability to perform on- or off-equipment maintenance on one or more complete electronic integrated systems associated with the assigned aircraft and/or maintenance on automatic flight control systems, instrument systems, inertial and radar navigation systems.

Major Duties - This is NOT an all-inclusive list:

  • Adjust and align system sensors, transmitters, amplifiers, power supplies, display devices, controls, transponders, actuators, servos, computers, and other related components.
  • Install, modify, overhaul, maintain, troubleshoot, repair, rebuild, align, and calibrate complete electronic avionics multi-systems control.
  • Install serviceable components into aircraft and perform total systems alignment and harmonization in accordance with existing technical orders and directives.
  • Maintain, modify, calibrate, and inspect a wide variety of user test, measurement, and diagnostic equipment (TMDE).
  • Perform flight operational test, adjust or replace units or components as required.
  • Troubleshoot operational malfunctions and analyze system performance utilizing aircrew debrief data, technical orders, schematic and wiring diagrams, and test equipment.
  • Analyze malfunctions encountered through fault codes, determine repair sequence process, and perform the repairs.
  • Identify faulty parts and repair to level authorized; reassemble unit after repair, perform alignment, and make shop checks.
  • Isolate unusual malfunctions using technical orders, schematics, wiring diagrams, tools, and test equipment including automatic test equipment and Flight Line Test Systems (FLTS).
  • Test and troubleshoot solid state electronic assemblies and subassemblies such as circuit cards, modules, rate generators, and integrated circuits.
  • Perform scheduled and unscheduled maintenance on one or more multi-complex electronic integrated systems.
  • Review and analyze maintenance data to determine if criteria are sufficient to provide adequate test, troubleshooting, and repair procedures.
  • Evaluate operational characteristics of the integrated systems by observing and analyzing waveforms, voltage, current, power indications, computer registers, and printouts.
  • Conduct aircrew debriefings to analyze maintenance problems and determine the nature of required modifications.
  • Accomplish technical order compliance, modify components/systems, and complete thorough system checks for proper operation.
  • Document all discrepancies and maintenance actions by inputting information into electronic records information systems.
  • Submit change recommendations to technical orders and initiate material deficiency reports on equipment and data.
  • Requisition supply assets and process repairable assets in accordance with Standard Base Supply System requirements.
  • Ensure that material and equipment are properly stored, protected, and maintained, and that funds are not obligated without proper justification.
  • Process and account for due-in from maintenance (DIFM) supply assets.

Qualifications

AREA OF CONSIDERATION: The areas of consideration for this position, Title 32 Excepted Service (32 U.S. Code § 709), will be in the following manner and sequence:

  • The FIRST area of consideration for this position will be all excepted permanent and indefinite temporary technicians within the ILNG.
  • The SECOND area of consideration will be all current Federal Employees.
  • The THIRD area of consideration will be all Federal re-employment eligible.
  • The FOURTH area of consideration will be applicants willing to become T32 Dual Status Technicians and gain ILNG membership.
  • The FIFTH area of consideration will U.S. Citizens.



Military Grades: Enlisted Only - Minimum rank requirement of SSgt & May not exceed the rank of MSgt.

GENERAL EXPERIENCE: MUST possess experience that demonstrates ability to collect and analyze data; communicate clearly; install, modify, overhaul, maintain, troubleshoot, repair, align, calibrate, and rebuild complex multi-system avionics; interpret technical directives; train and lead others; and present information clearly through written reports or briefings.


SPECIALIZED EXPERIENCE: WG-13 Level - MUST possess specialized experience which includes at least a three-skill level in one of the compatible AFSCs, with 12 months of work experiences. Experience or training inspecting, testing, troubleshooting, repairing, and modifying software-controlled automated and manually controlled test stations, electronic circuit maintenance pods, peripherals, support equipment, and subsystems; analyzing performance data, identifying and isolating malfunctions using schematics, logic diagrams, programming tables, flow charts, and diagnostics; disassembling, repairing, and reassembling test stations and pods; using oscilloscopes, signal generators, voltmeters, and computer queries to diagnose faults; removing and replacing components, subassemblies, gyros, sensors, and solid-state devices; modifying avionics pods and updating support software in accordance with technical publications; devising repair procedures and recommending software or procedural changes based on recurring malfunctions or data analysis; connecting test equipment to aircraft systems and determining whether failures originate in the unit under test, pod, station, or program; collaborating with engineers and technicians to develop or validate software, interfaces, or test procedures; providing hands-on training to junior personnel in maintenance and repair of integrated avionics systems; and participating in readiness inspections and evaluations such as ORIs, IGs, and mobility exercises.
