THIS IS A NATIONAL GUARD TITLE 32 EXCEPTED SERVICE POSITION.
This National Guard position is for a ENGINEERING EQUIPMENT OPERATOR (Title 32), Position Description Number D0279000 and is part of the AR ANG 188 WGH WG, National Guard.

Clarification from the agency
(1) Arkansas Air National Guard (AR ANG) Technicians; (2) All members of the AR ANG, (3) Individuals who are not members of the National Guard but who are eligible to acquire membership in an available and compatible military grade for excepted technician positions. (Upon selection, must be a member of the AR Air National Guard).
Duties
(1) Uses heavy equipment with special attachments for grading surfaces, compacting or rolling soil, or other similar practices to prepare the surface to exact specifications. Adjusts attachments for best positioning and working order, and makes the necessary adjustments without stopping the power unit or equipment.
(2) Works to fine specifications from grade stakes set by engineers.
(3) Operates a variety of engineering equipment near buildings, trees, drop offs, rocks, or other permanent obstructions, as well as rough terrain.
(4) Uses heavy equipment to grade, fill, or level earth to specifications for roads and construction sites. Operates equipment on steep slopes, hilly and rocky areas. wooded and other terrain with similar rough features.
(5) Performs excavation for ditches, sewer lines, waterlines, etc. Moves extremely heavy objects as well as sand, gravel ,or other loose materials.
( 6) Operates runway vacuum sweepers, and magnetic sweepers Operates industrial/agricultural type equipment. Operates snow removal and grass cutting equipment. Performs equipment and operator's maintenance work when necessary.
( 7) Schedules and supervises training of drill status guard members who are equipment operators.
(8) May operate boom crane at various outlying locations where maneuverability is restricted and accuracy is critical.
(9) Prepares for and participates in readiness evaluations, Unit Effectiveness Inspections (U%Is), Operational Readiness Inspections (ORIs) and mobility and command support exercises.
(10) Performs other duties as assigned.

Compatible military grade and assignment required prior to the effective date of placement. This is an excepted service position that requires membership in a compatible military assignment in the employing state's National Guard. Applicants who are not currently a member of the National Guard must be eligible for immediate membership in the military grade listed below. Selectee will be required to wear the military uniform.

- Minimum Military Grade: E-1/ PVT
- Maximum Military Grade: E-7/ MSgt
Compatible Military Assignments: Selectee must be a member of the Arkansas Air National Guard.
IMPORTANT NOTES (AS APPLICABLE): Upon selection for this position, individual must possess or initiate a National Agency Check with Inquiries (NACI) background investigation. A favorable determination based upon investigative results is mandatory for this position. Failure to meet these requirements will result in termination of employment. A pre-placement physical is required if not already current. Upon selection, must complete mandatory Full-Time Support (FTS) Training at the Professional Education Center (PEC) within six months of assignment (if applicable, training will be coordinated by the supervisor). Individual must meet all military requirements of the position without creating a grade inversion, as determined by the Human Resources Office (HRO). Technicians will not be militarily senior to their full-time supervisor or wage leader (Grade Inversion). Enlisted members currently at a higher grade than allowed by the position (see Military Grade Requirement above) may apply; however, they must administratively reduce prior to appointment and provide confirmation of the reduction to HRO.

Qualifications
GENERAL EXPERIENCE:
WG - Experience or training which demonstrates the ability to follow instructions and safely operate the type of equipment required to accomplish the duties of the position.
SPECIALIZED EXPERIENCE:
Experience or training operating heavy engineer equipment in close proximities and the ability to adapt equipment to changing weather, soil, and all types of terrain. Experience assisting lower graded operators in complex operation and maintenance of equipment. Experience or training which demonstrates the ability to instruct others in the operation and maintenance of heavy engineer equipment.
