JOB TITLE:   Equipment Repairer

This position is a mixed position in which the incumbent will perform equipment maintenance duties as well as warehousing duties. 
This position¿s pay level is NA-06/07.  NA-07 is the target level of the position. At NA-06, the incumbent serves in the developmental capacity performing duties under closer than normal supervision. The incumbent is required to successfully complete all training requirements, obtain required certification and licenses to operate trucks and fork lift up to 5 tons, and be recommended by the supervisor prior to advancement to the target grade level.

INTRODUCTION: The position is located in MCCS Special Events warehouse on Camp Kinser bldg. 325.  The position provides logistic support for a variety of recreational, cultural, competitive, strategic major events, ceremonies, e.g. command functions, camp festivals, flea market, etc. on various Marine Corps camps, also Air Force, and Army installations, to uplift the spirits and morale of active duty members, civilian personnel and their dependents.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
Performs maintenance duties on the various equipment used in Special Events. The  duties include but not limited to services, troubleshoots and repairs of DRMO¿s golf carts to include- club cars, Kawasaki mules, Carry-all type carts, and Cummins Onan 100KW, 60KW, 50KW, including generator trailers, and Japanese type generators; Bungee trampoline rides that are used for area festivals, to include safety, and operational checks; Light cart units to include ordering replacement parts when required;  mobile rock climbing walls to include hydraulic cylinder, cable, harness, pin, and carabiner replacement when deemed necessary, or according to manufacturer specifications; Maintains, services, troubleshoots, repairs the mobile zip-line ride that is use at events. Checks all parts, cables, relay boxes, harnesses and safety devices for proper operation;

Performs maintenance on numerous metallic items, and must be proficient with hand tools such as rivet guns, metal cutting tools, hack saws, grinding tools, and files.

Performs maintenance on wooden boxes, and must be proficient in using hand tools such as skill saws, hand saws, hand drills, screw guns, miter box, hammers.

Qualifications

WORKING CONDITIONS: Work is performed inside or outside in areas that may be hot, damp, cold, drafty, or poorly lighted.  May be required to in all kinds of weather conditions.
Regularly exposed to the possibility of cuts, scrapes, bruises and muscle strains. May stand on hard surfaces for extended periods of time.  Bends, stoops, and works in tiring and sometimes uncomfortable positions.  Lifts and carries objects up to 45 lbs independently and objects over 45 lbs with assistance.


BASIC REQUIREMENTS:

  1.  Must be at least 18 years old.
  2.  Minimum of two years of experience required that demonstrates knowledge of all types of equipment maintenance such as light carts, golf carts, generators, mechanical rides, basic electrical knowledge, and supply/warehouse operations, systems, and procedures. 
  3. Must be proficient with various hand tools for metal and wood work, such as rivet guns, metal cutting tools, hack saws, grinding tools, and files, hand saws, hand drills, screw guns, miter box, hammers. 
  4. Must be able to interpret and apply technical and manufacturer's manuals specifications.
  5. must be able to accommodate a flexible work schedule to include night time, weekends and holidays.


QUALIFICATION REQUIREMENTS:   

  1. A valid Government Owned Vehicle (GOV) operator's permit is required for the performance of duties for this position. Inability to obtain or maintain appropriate GOV licensing may result in termination for lack of qualifications. The incumbent is required to obtain required GOV licenses within 30 days of hire for both truck and fork lift licenses up to 5-tons, and must be able to obtain a Medical Examiner's certificate (Medcert) from the US Naval Hospital.
  2. Must be able to lift and carry objects up to 45 lbs independently and objects over 45 lbs with assistance.
  3. Must be able to perform work requiring prolonged standing, walking, reaching and lifting.
  4. Skills and ability in loading, unloading and arranging cargo preferred.
  5. Knowledge and skills in basic computer operation to include Microsoft Outlook.
