To qualify for this position, you must meet BOTH the Basic Requirement and one of the Minimum Qualification Requirements as listed below.
BASIC REQUIREMENT - You must meet
the following basic requirement:
- EDUCATION: Successfully completed a degree in biology, or a related field of science underlying ecological research that included at least 30 semester hours in basic and applied biological sciences. These hours must have included at least 9 semester hours in ecology, and 12 semester hours in physical and mathematical sciences. You must include transcripts.

To qualify for this position at the GS-11 grade level, you must possess at least one of the following minimum qualifications by close of the announcement:
EXPERIENCE: At least one full year of specialized experience comparable in scope and responsibility to the GS-09 grade level in the Federal service (obtained in either the public or private sectors). This specialized experience includes activities such as: work involving various aspects of restoration ecology and project management. Knowledge of western sagebrush steppe ecology is a benefit. Examples of specialized experience include applying applicable policy, law, and regulations to manage plants, vegetation, wildlife habitat, and exotic species on local, state, federal, or private conservation lands; designing field studies to collect data and information for development or implementation of restoration management plans; conducting field monitoring to assess conditions and trends of natural and cultural resources; working with local, state, and federal partners along with scientists and conservation organizations to coordinate efforts, implement management plans, and further natural resource management goals; developing ecology, wildlife, and vegetation program goals, obtaining funding, and successfully carrying out ecological projects. EDUCATION: Successful completion of at least 3 years of progressively higher level graduate education leading to a Ph.D. degree or Ph.D. or equivalent doctoral degree in a field directly related to the work of the position, such as wildlife ecology, population ecology, landscape ecology, forest ecology, or ecology. Successful completion of a combination of education and experience as described above. To combine education and experience, first take the amount of completed qualifying doctoral level education and convert it to a percentage of the total educational requirement. NOTE: Only the graduate education in excess of 36 semester hours or 54 quarter hours or the equivalent may be creditable when combining. Then take the number of months of full time experience and divide by 12 months. Add the percentages together. The total must equal at least 100 percent to qualify.
