Applicants must meet all qualifications and eligibility requirements by the closing date of the announcement, including specialized experience and/or education, as defined below.
BASIC REQUIREMENT:
A) Completion of four full years of education above high school leading to a bachelor's or higher degree in economics, which included at least 21 semester hours in economics and 3 semester hours in statistics, accounting or calculus.
OR
B) Combination of post high school education, which included coursework equivalent to a major (at least 21 semester hours in economics and 3 semester hours in statistics, accounting or calculus) plus appropriate experience or additional education which demonstrated similarly appropriate skills or abilities needed to perform the work of the occupation and together meet the requirements for this position.
Equivalent combinations of education and experience are qualifying for this basic requirement.
In addition to meeting the basic requirement above, you must also meet the specialized experience requirements below.
FOR THE GS-12 LEVEL: Applicants must have one year of specialized experience (equivalent to the GS-11 level) that may have been obtained in the private or public (local, county, state, Federal) sectors which demonstrates:
- Assisting in the collection of primary agricultural or transportation data.
- Conducting the analysis of agricultural market or transportation issues, including extracting and reporting information from large datasets.
- Conducting applied research individually or as part of a team to develop guidance, training, or market outlook for agriculture or transportation.
Note: There is no education substitution for this grade level.
FOR THE GS-13 LEVEL: Applicants must have one year of specialized experience (equivalent to the GS-12 level) that may have been obtained in the private or public (local, county, state, Federal) sectors which demonstrates:
- Defining, planning, and organizing the scope of agricultural research studies, including establishing project objectives, research methodologies, and timetables for completion.
- Directing the collection of primary research data and information by research collaborators and other study participants.
- Evaluating quantitative (original datasets, surveys) or qualitative (interviews/focus groups) data pertaining to agriculture or transportation.
- Project management that was national in scope involving agriculture or transportation.
- Guiding applied research individually or as part of a team to develop guidance, training, or market outlook for agriculture or transportation.
Note: There is no education substitution for the required specialized experience for both grade levels.
TRANSCRIPTS are required if:
- This position requires specific coursework or a degree in a specific field to be basically qualified.
Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional, philanthropic, religious, spiritual, community, student, social). Volunteer work helps build critical competencies and can provide valuable training and experience that translates directly to paid employment. You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience.
