Summary

This position is located in the Consulting Services Unit (CSU) in the Leadership and Management School (LMS) at the Foreign Service Institute. The incumbent applies expertise in adult learning methodologies, leadership/management training, course and curriculum design, training materials development, and leadership coaching in carrying out a wide range of complex assignments to support the functional responsibilities of CSU.

Duties

  • Serves as expert Instructor and Facilitator in the Department’s entry- through mid- level mandatory leadership and supervisory course, to ensure maximum impact and learning/developmental value for those audiences.
  • Designs and delivers leadership, management, interpersonal effectiveness, and similar training, workshops, and custom facilitated modules for Department employees, with a focus on supporting leaders and their employees.
  • Provides expert advice and assistance to managers and directors of LMS to ensure leadership and management training, coaching and Organizational Effectiveness programs reflects state of the art content, applications, and techniques.
  • Provides programmatic to support the coaching program, which includes overseeing the scheduling and logistics of onboarding new adjunct coaches and new coaching clients and managing in the coaching community of Practice.

Qualifications

Applicants must meet all the required qualification requirements described below by the closing date of this announcement. Applicants must meet ONE of the required basic entry qualification requirements described below:

BASIC REQUIREMENTS:

A. Degree: that included or was supplemented by major study in education or in a subject-matter field appropriate to this position;

OR

B. Combination of education and experience -- courses equivalent to a major in education, OR in a subject-matter field appropriate to the position, PLUS appropriate experience OR additional course work that provided knowledge comparable to that normally acquired through the successful completion of the 4-year course of study described in A above.

IN ADDITION to meeting one of the basic entry qualifications requirements listed above, you MUST have at least 1 year of specialized experience that has equipped you with the particular knowledge, skills, and abilities to successfully perform the duties of the position. This experience is related to the work of the position and equivalent to at least the GS-12 level in the Federal service.

Qualifying experience must demonstrate the following:

  • Experience in supporting and developing content and training focused on leadership and management skills, and team effectiveness.
  • Experience in organizing workshops, seminars, and other events related to leadership coaching.
  • Experience in analyzing adult education and management methodologies.
  • Experience in coordinating or coaching educational or training programs to improve operational effectiveness.

There is no substitute of education for specialized experience for the GS-13 position.
