Duties
Duties include, but are not limited to:
- maintaining, repairing, installing, and testing switchgear, transformers, regulators, and reactors
- maintaining, repairing, installing, and testing electrical motors, generators, alternators, batteries, and hydraulic/pneumatic control systems.
- install, maintain, and calibrate industrial instrumentation and related devices.
- install, modify, repair, maintain, troubleshoot, test, and load new and existing electrical lines, circuits, systems, and associated fixtures, controls, and equipment.
- install electrical conduits for new equipment or for movement or replacement of existing machinery and equipment.
- repairs fixed equipment in various buildings and shops.
- conducts preventative maintenance programs and keeps maintenance records.
- performs all other duties as assigned.

Position Description Title/PD#: Electrician/PD12074A
Physical Requirements: Must be mentally alert and be able to attain a high degree of concentration and have mental and physical coordination in order to return equipment to operating condition as soon as possible. Errors could cause serious injury to persons and considerable loss of property and time. May be required to stand for long periods of time while performing repairs on electrical equipment and appliances and installing and checking electrical outlets and circuits. Must have sufficient physical strength to be able to lift heavy equipment such as large motors, exhaust fans, fluorescent fixtures, etc. Must have sufficient agility to be able to bend, crawl, climb, stoop, etc., for long periods of time without undue physical strain.
Works on ladders, scaffolding and platforms, often in difficult hard-to-reach places. Duties require standing, stooping, bending, kneeling, lifting, and working in tiring and uncomfortable positions. Lifts, carries, and sets up tools and equipment often weighing 50 pounds. Works inside and outside, in all types of weather, often under dirty, dusty and greasy working conditions. Occasionally subjected to high noise levels. May work in and around patient care areas requiring discretion, tact and diplomacy. Subjected to all hazards associated with the electrical trade.
