Conditions of employment

- This position requires contact with inmates convicted of offenses against the punitive articles of the Uniform Code of Military Justice.
- Compliance with all provisions of the 15th MP BDE Regulation 190-3, Rules of Conduct and ACC Policy Letter #17, Standards of Conduct required.
- This position requires the employee to complete the ACC Pre-Service Training upon employment and complete a minimum of 40 hours of training annually thereafter.
- Personnel who enter the Military Corrections Complex consent to inspection of their person and property, including their vehicle, at any time their property or vehicle is within any area under the control of the USDB or MWJRCF.
- IAW The Prison Rape Elimination Act, the MCC may not hire or promote anyone who may have contact with inmates, has engaged in sexual abuse in a prison, jail, lockup community conferment facility, juvenile facility, or other institution (42 USC 1997).
- The maximum entry age for primary positions is 37 years old. This age restriction may not apply to individuals who have previously served in a Federal Civilian (not military) position. See additional information section.
- This position has been designated "Mission Essential". In the event of severe weather conditions or other such emergency type situations the incumbent is required to report to work or remain at work as scheduled to support mission operations.

This is a Direct Hire Authority (DHA) solicitation utilizing the DHA for Certain Personnel of the Department of Defense (DOD) Workforce to recruit and appoint qualified candidates to positions in the competitive service.
Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community; student; social). You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience.
There is no specific length of training or experience required. However, you must be able to demonstrate, through experience shown in your written application materials that you possess the sufficient knowledge, skills, and abilities to successfully perform the work of this position without more than normal supervision.
Minimum Qualifications (Screen Out Element): Ability to do the work of a(n) Electrician ~ without more than normal supervision. Install, repair, and modify new and existing electrical lines, circuits, systems and fixtures. Overhaul, repair and maintain a variety of electrical devices and equipment. - Failure to meet this Screen out Element will result in an ineligible rating.
- Physical Effort - The employee is required to work on ladders and scaffolds and frequently involves working in uncomfortable or awkward positions. This requires the employee to stand, stoop, bend, kneel, climb, and work in tiring and uncomfortable positions. Frequently lifts, carries and sets up parts and equipment weighing up to 75 pounds.
- Working Conditions - Works inside buildings and shops as well as outside. Subject to contact with dirt and soiling of hands and clothing, to shocks and burns from voltages up to 600 volts. Subject to cuts and bruises. Employee is exposed to danger from electric shock and falls from scaffolds or ladders, and intra or ultra violet rays and fumes and gases. The work is performed in a correctional institution where the employee must be prepared to defend oneself, or others, against physical attack at all times.
This position has been designated as a primary/rigorous and is eligible for Law Enforcement (LEO) retirement coverage under the provisions of title 5 USC 8336(c) and 8412(d) by DoD memorandum dated 19-Aug-2010. The maximum entry age for positions covered under this retirement is 37 years old. Retirement from this position is mandatory at age 57 with 20 years of LEO service. The maximum entry age may be waived under certain circumstances. Individuals who are past the maximum entry age limit, but previously served in a primary position, MAY be reinstated.
The work requires frequent, direct contact in the detention of inmates convicted of offenses against the punitive articles of the Uniform Code of Military Justice. Regularly-assigned contacts with inmates expose the incumbent to daily stress and the threat of potentially dangerous situations such as verbal and/or physical attack by the inmate population.
Education
Some federal jobs allow you to substitute your education for the required experience in order to qualify. For this job, you must meet the qualification requirement using experience alone -no substitution of education for experience is permitted.
