Duties
Duties include, but not limited to:
- Supervise employees in the Electric Shop and is responsible for the installation, maintenance, and repair of the electrical distribution system. Systems include, but are not limited to, high voltage switchgear, overhead and underground cables, transformers, primary building switchgear, building and street lighting, electrical circuits from the breaker panel to and including the receptacle and uninterruptible power supplies.
- Responsible installation, maintenance, and repair of the signal distribution system. Systems include, but are not limited to, fiber optic cable, data cabling, nurse call systems, fire alarm systems, intrusion alarm systems, control access systems, patient Wanderguard systems, panic alarm systems, paging systems, two-way radio systems, various monitoring systems, video cassette players/recorders, televisions, radios, Wi-Fi systems, engineering backbone, generator monitoring system and other signal system technology brought online my the medical center.
- Incumbent is responsible for the testing, maintenance and repair of 13 emergency generators.
- Make critical, immediate decisions during equipment and utility outages and must consider the well-being of the patients and staff, as well as the safety of the repair crew, when selecting the best possible course of action to implement for quick and effective repairs.
- Ensure the VA Medical Facility complies with VHA Directive 1028 Facility Electrical Power Systems, related policies, and any new or replacement policies for electrical and signal systems.
- Develop and review work plans minimizing energized work by implementing proper safety precautions, engineering controls and procedures.
- Ensure electrical hazards (including arc flash and shock) are analyzed and identified per NFPA and OSHA requirements.
Work Schedule: Monday through Friday 7:00 a.m. to 3:30 p.m.
