Duties
Primary duties of the Electrician Supervisor is that of a Master Electrician responsible to the Maintenance and Operation Supervisor for the direct supervision of the Electric Shop. Additional duties include but are limited to the following:
- Incumbent is responsible for the proper course of action for the efficient direction and operation of the Electric Shop, including nights, weekends and holidays.
- Incumbent is delegated responsibility for making decisions in emergency situations when higher level approval cannot be obtained.
- Incumbent decides on major problems and matters in day-to-day operations, and is accountable for managing his/her section and all resources in a highly efficient manner. The section consist of six journeyman electricians, an electrical worker and an electronics mechanic.
- Incumbent plans the maintenance, repair and operation of all electrical systems and equipment located at the Medical Center (except technical medical equipment).
- Incumbent determines personnel requirements, conversions, operations, modernization, alterations and repairs to buildings and electrical/electronic systems.
- Incumbent conducts studies and assists in developing improvement projects.
- Incumbent assists in writing specifications and coordinates projects performed by the Electric Shop.
- Incumbent oversees the maintenance, repair and operation programs within his/her section, and makes studies of improved efficiency.
- Incumbent assists in the budget preparation for the Electric Shop of the Medical Center based on long-range plans and goals.
- Incumbent trains employees and ensures that development programs are carried out in all areas of responsibility.
- Incumbent assists in planning and laying out work for accomplishments of repairs, changes and improvements through the entire Medical Center.
- Incumbent, in conjunction with the Maintenance and Operation (M&O) section, plans the sequence for electrical operational functions and determines priorities, specific types and number of persons, material and equipment required.
- Coordinates daily work assignments with the M&O Supervisor and other section foremen.
- Incumbent is responsible for administrative matters and all personnel issues/concerns for the employees for which he/she is accountable.
- Performs other duties, as assigned.
Must know the safety rules and the proper use of safety equipment pertinent to work with, primary voltages up to 12,470 and secondary voltages up to 480. He/she must know the National Electric Code, Elevator Safety Code and all local electric codes. Must have the ability to interpret and apply the NEC, local Codes, building plans, blueprints, wiring diagrams and engineering drawings and to use trade formulas to calculate common properties. Must have working knowledge of the operation and installation of a variety of complete electrical systems and equipment.
