Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community; student; social). You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience.
There is no specific length of training or experience required. However, you must be able to demonstrate, through experience shown in your written application materials that you possess the sufficient knowledge, skills, and abilities to successfully perform the work of this position without more than normal supervision.
Minimum Qualifications (Screen Out Element): Ability to do the work of an Electronic Industrial Controls Mechanic without more than normal supervision to include repairing, maintaining, and performing preventive maintenance on machinery; apply high degree of knowledge of electronic theory and circuits to include installing, repairing, overhauling, aligning, testing and maintaining equipment and/or machinery and operations testing. I work under supervision of a journey-level employee who review my work for completion. - Failure to meet this Screen Out Element will result in an ineligible rating.
To meet the basic eligibility, you must receive at least two points on the screen-out element indicated above. Your application will be further evaluated to determine if you meet the best qualified cut-off for referral to the selecting official.
Physical Effort: Employee handles and carries tools, equipment, and test equipment weighing 40 pounds or less and is required to stoop, stretch, bend, kneel, and work in uncomfortable positions to reach parts of the system when modifying and adjusting sensors.
Working Conditions: Work is primarily performed inside but the employee may occasionally be required to work outside and in drafty attic spaces and cramped areas with low overheads or sudden temperature changes during maintenance or troubleshooting UMCS.
