Summary
This position is part of the WAPA-RMR-Rocky Mountain Region. As a Electronic Integrated Systems Mechanic, Electronic Equipment Craftsman, you will maintain, modify, install, repair, program, and test a variety of simple to complex electronic equipment used in these categories: communication, control process computers, and supervisory control systems.
Duties
As an Electronic Integrated Systems Mechanic, Electronic Equipment Craftsman, some of your duties will include:
- Perform database modification.
- Develop software test routines for verifying communication settings and operational specifications.
- Perform work on communications equipment that is used for power system operation and control, relaying, data logging, and indication.
- Perform work on control process computers and peripheral equipment.
- Install, maintain, troubleshoot and repair malfunctions in supervisory control and data acquisition equipment and analog, digital telemetering equipment.
- Work from and interpret electrical drawings and electronic circuit diagrams. Install, align, calibrate, adjust and maintain equipment without endangering system operation.

- Incumbent must successfully complete and pass a physical exam and drug test upon selection, and annually thereafter at Federal expense. Failure to test or a positive result on random drug or drug and alcohol tests conducted after appointment may result in removal from Federal employment.
- Incumbent must have a valid and current State driver's license.
- This position may require rotational shiftwork and regular and recurring overtime. Overtime may be required on short notice to include nights, holidays and weekends in support of related mission requirements.
- The incumbent may be required to occasionally fly in a helicopter during the performance of assigned duties.
- The wear of Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) and Arc Rated protective clothing when in proximity to exposed energized circuits is required.
- The incumbent may be required to work during inclement weather conditions such as high temperatures, rain, sleet, snow, and extreme cold.
- The incumbent must meet the required climbing weight of this position which is not to exceed 310 pounds with all required gear and personal weight not to exceed 280 pounds, and may have to climb towers as high as 400 feet.

Ability to do the work of an Electronic Integrated Systems Mechanic, Electronic Equipment Craftsman independently and without more than normal supervision installing and commissioning, or, maintaining and repairing electronic equipment used in communication, control process computers, and supervisory control systems.
PHYSICAL DEMANDS: Work is indoors; however, outdoor activities are frequently encountered. May lift and carry loads over 50 pounds, often in outdoor environments that pose difficult terrain issues. May work in close, restricted quarters. Standing, bending, stooping for long periods of time may be required. May be required to hike, climb, or use other methods to get to remote equipment sites as local terrain and climate conditions require. Must be able to climb communication towers up to 400 feet or as required.
WORK CONDITIONS: Work is done both inside and outdoors in variable weather conditions. Work often requires much driving, some in rugged, isolated areas requiring four-wheel drive, often alone. Work can require considerable travel requiring temporary lodging away from duty station. May be required to travel in a fixed wing aircraft, helicopter, snow mobile or snow cat to work sites.
