This is a Direct Hire Authority (DHA) solicitation utilizing the DHA for Domestic Defense Industrial Base (DIB) and Major Range and Test Facilities Base (MRTFB) to recruit and appoint qualified candidates to positions in the competitive service.
Duties
- Calibration, maintenance, repair, alignment, modification, updating and fault-analysis of highly complex computer based electronic measurement test consoles, test equipment and highly sophisticated integrated missile system components.
- Select, modify, sets up, calibrate, install and operate a variety of precision measurement equipment including special purpose test consoles and mock-ups in support of engineering laboratory test development.
- Analyze data by means of telemetry printouts, printouts, diagnostic runs, waveform analysis, power readings, voltage levels and various symptoms that the product under test displays.
- Certify the accuracy of the electronic, hydraulic, and pneumatic units and certify the accuracy of various standard and special purpose mechanical instruments.
- Prepare reports, statistical charts, graphs and documents analysis of missile electronic components and computer-based test sets.

- Appointment may be subject to a suitability or fitness determination, as determined by a completed background investigation. You must successfully complete and pass a NATIONAL AGENCY CHECK WITH WRITTEN INQUIRIES (NACI, Tier 1).
- This position requires the completion of a pre-employment Physical Examination and an annual examination thereafter to ensure the continued, required level of physical health and ability or fitness to perform the duties of the position.
- Appointment to this position is subject to a one year probationary period unless the appointee has previously met the requirements as described in 5 CFR Part 315.
- 25% business travel.
- Obtain and maintain the Associate Level Certified Electronics Technician certification per Electronics Technicians Association, International, within two (2) years of placement into the position.
- Obtain and maintain Journeyman Level Certified Electronics Technician certification per Electronics Technicians Association, International, within four (4) years of placement into the position.
- Position requires shift work and overtime to provide coverage on evenings, weekends, holidays, or special situations.

Minimum Qualifications (Screen Out Element): Ability to do the work of a(n) Electronic Measurement Equipment Mechanic ~ without more than normal supervision. Testing, troubleshooting, repairing, overhauling, modifying, and calibrating electronic measurement equipment, perform special tests on electronic control systems for automated industrial equipment such as computer signal generators (UHF, VHF, and microwave) range calibrators, spectrum analyzers, distortion analyzers, digital equipment, oscilloscopes, specialized test sets and electronic control systems for automated industrial equipment.- Failure to meet this Screen out Element will result in an ineligible rating.
PHYSICAL CONDITIONS
Work assignments require light to moderate physical effort. Subject position lifts, carries, or otherwise handles items weighing from 10 to 40 pounds and occasionally in excess of 40 pounds. Frequent standing, walking, bending, reaching and stooping is required.
WORKING CONDITIONS
A majority of work is performed inside heated buildings with occasional exposure to outside weather conditions. Works in areas subject to high frequency noise, cuts, bruises and burns or shocks caused by high voltages.
