Duties

The United States Space Force (USSF) Space Systems Command (SSC) Space Launch Delta 30/RM at Vandenberg Space Force Base is searching for a Supervisory Electronics Engineer, Architecture and Innovation Branch (NH-0855-04, GS 14/15 equivalent).

Description:
As the Electronics Engineer you will lead the Architecture and Innovation Branch and be directly responsible for developing the future Western Range (WR) Launch and Test Range Systems (LTRS) architecture and injecting innovations to effectively digitally transform the range into a future modernized spaceport that can meet our nation's increasing needs. The Architecture and Innovation Branch is a collaborative, fast-paced environment, that achieves rapid results.

This position is an expert within their functional area; heads of branches or divisions; or key program administrators. Conducts or directs activities or assists higher levels on challenging and innovative program development with only general guidance on policy, resources, and planning; develops solutions to highly complex problems requiring various disciplines; responsible for fulfilling program objectives. Results are authoritative and impact programs or the well-being of substantial numbers of people.

The ideal candidate should have knowledge of systems engineering and associated disciplines such as systems engineering plans, test and evaluation plans, life-cycle engineering, operational safety, suitability and effectiveness plans, specs and standards, national environmental policy act, and programmatic environmental safety and health evaluations. Knowledge of a wide range of multidisciplinary professional engineering, asset management, and operations theories, concepts, principles, standards, methods, techniques, materials, and equipment as well as knowledge of standard construction and contracting regulations, practices, and procedures. Knowledge of the principles of facility and infrastructure operations, repair, maintenance, and upgrade principles, theories, concepts, and procedures; customer service operations; and financial management principles and standards. Knowledge of the principles of planning, program management, and standard acquisition regulations, practices, and procedures. Knowledge of safety, security, personnel management, and EEO regulations, practices, and procedures. Ability to analyze, plan, organize, and direct the work operations to meet program requirements and objectives with available resources; and to mentor, motivate, and appraise the staff of an organization. Ability to communicate clearly, concisely, and with technical accuracy, both orally and in writing, as well as work in a professional manner with peers, management, contractors, academia, and other agencies. The employee must meet the Defense Acquisition Workforce Improvement Act (DAWIA) requirements applicable to the duties of the position. The employee must possess an engineering degree at the bachelor's level from an institution with an Accreditation Board for Engineering and Technology (ABET) accredited program in electronics engineering or a closely related field is highly desired.

Knowledge of the theories, concepts, principles, practices, standards, methods, techniques, and materials of multidisciplinary professional engineering to effectively apply advanced engineering theories, principles, and concepts to new applications, experimental theories, and other areas of responsibility.
2. Knowledge of safety, security, personnel management, and EEO regulations, practices, and procedures.
3. Ability to plan, organize, and direct the functions and mentor, motivate, and appraise the staff of an organization.
4. Ability to communicate clearly, concisely, and with technical accuracy, both orally and in writing, as well as work in a professional manner with peers, management, contractors, academia, and other agencies.
5. Knowledge of planning and program management to execute major projects, provide expert advice to colleagues, and present innovative recommendations for advancing programs and/or methods.
6. Ability to research, evaluate, interpret, and apply rules, regulations, and procedures to a variety of situations and to recommend timely and economical solutions.

  • Employee must be able to obtain and maintain a Secret clearance.
  • May be required to travel by military or commercial aircraft in the performance of TDY assignments.
  • May be required to work overtime on an unscheduled or emergency basis.
  • Required to handle and safeguard sensitive and/or classified information in accordance with regulations to reduce potential compromise.
  • The employee must meet the Defense Acquisition Workforce Improvement Act (DAWIA) requirements applicable to the duties of the position.
  • An engineering degree at the bachelor’s level from an institution with an ABET accredited program in electronics engineering or a closely related field is highly desired.

  • This position is eligible for regular and recurring telework.
