WHO CAN APPLY:
GROUP I - All qualified Male/Female Enlisted Member (E4/SPC - E9/SGM) or Warrant Officer (W1/WO1 - W3/CW3) currently employed (permanent) in the Virginia Army National Guard Military Technician Program.
GROUP II - All qualified Virginia Army National Guard Male/Female Enlisted Member (E4/SPC - E9/SGM) or Warrant Officer (W1/WO1 - W3/CW3) regardless of employment status (Traditional, Military Technician or AGR). To be considered as a Group II applicant, proof of appointment/enlistment in the Virginia National Guard must be attached if the appointment/enlistment occurred within 60 days prior to, or during, the advertisement period.
Military Grades: Enlisted Member (E4/SPC - E9/SGM) or Warrant Officer (W1/WO1 - W3/CW3)
GENERAL EXPERIENCE: Applicant must have experience or training which demonstrates knowledge to inspect the repair of electronics equipment to ensure that physical and operating characteristics are within acceptable standards and specifications.
SPECIALIZED EXPERIENCE: Applicant must have at least 18 months of specialized experience, equivalent to at least the WG-11 level, or equivalent pay band in other pay systems in the Federal government? This experience may also have been obtained in the private sector, but must demonstrate that it is comparable to the WG grade indicated. This experience must include activities such as:
- Experience using a wide variety of inspection techniques to inspect standard electronic systems such as: radar, radio communications receivers, and transmitters (single band, UHF and VHF), mobile subscriber equipment (MSE), missile guidance systems, laser range finders, and electronic fire control systems.
- Experience conducting inspections, diagnosing nature and extent of equipment malfunction, and as required, performing required maintenance to restore to a serviceable condition various types of tactical computers, radio sets, etc.
- Experience inspecting equipment to determine repairs needed.
- Experience inspecting a full range of equipment at remote worksites in support of field organizations, field units during field exercise training periods, or before major pieces of equipment are sent for repair to a supporting maintenance facility.
