Specialized Experience: At the GS-09 Level: One year of specialized experience which includes:
- Experience assisting with the installation and maintenance of electronic systems;
- Experience resolving a variety of technical problems related to electronic systems;
- Experience assisting with the configuration of electronic system components; or
- Experience operating and maintaining a wide range of electronic systems and equipment.
This definition of specialized experience is typical of work performed at the next lower grade/level position in the federal service (GS-08).
OR
Education: Successful two full years (i.e., 36 semester hours) of graduate level education in a field directly related to the work of the position, such as engineering, physical science, technology, or mathematics. (Note: You must attach a copy of your transcripts.)
OR
Combination of Education and Experience: A combination of education (directly related to the occupation) and experience may be used to qualify for this position as long as the computed percentage of the requirements is at least 100%. To compute the percentage of the requirements, divide your total months of experience by 12. Then divide your semester hours of graduate education beyond the first year (total graduate semester hours minus 18) by 9. Add the two percentages. The total percentage must equal at least 100 percent to qualify. (Note: You must attach a copy of your transcripts.)
At the GS-10 Level: One year of specialized experience which includes:
- Experience in the operation, integration, repairing, or maintenance of a wide variety of complex electronic systems;
- Experience with the set up and operation pf specialized or standard test equipment to diagnose, test, or analyze the performance of electronic components, assemblies, or systems;
- Experience with interpretation of diagrams, schematic drawings, or engineering instructions for assembling electronics units; and
- Experience applying theories, techniques, or applications of electricity, advanced analog and digital electronics, and computer/electronics technology.

PHYSICAL DEMANDS: The work is both sedentary and non-sedentary, sometimes including walking or driving to various locations of the installation to collect data, perform system maintenance or to assist in equipment installation. The work requires some physical exertion such as recurring activities i.e. bending, crouching, stooping, stretching, reaching and lifting of moderately heavy objects such as network equipment and computers. Work may also require the occasional, assisted relocation of control systems and IT components weighing up to 50 pounds using hand tools, drills, saws, and electrical tools.
The employee may be required to perform travel duty (TDY) by commercial transportation for training or equipment validation.
WORK ENVIRONMENT: The office work area is adequately lighted, temperature controlled and ventilated. The industrial work area involves regular and recurring exposure industrial manufacturing and outdoor exposure.

Time in Grade Requirement:
GS-09:Applicants who have held a General Schedule (GS) position within the last 52 weeks must have 52 weeks of Federal service at the next lower grade or equivalent (GS-08).
GS-10:Applicants who have held a General Schedule (GS) position within the last 52 weeks must have 52 weeks of Federal service at the next lower grade or equivalent (GS-09).
GS-11:Applicants who have held a General Schedule (GS) position within the last 52 weeks must have 52 weeks of Federal service at the next lower grade or equivalent (GS-10).
