Career-Seasonal appointments are permanent positions and include the same benefits as Career appointments, but do not provide work on a year-round basis. You will work approximately 11 months in pay status, and you will be in a non-pay status 1 month (Early December-Late December) depending on weather.
This announcement may be used to fill additional positions if identical vacancies occur within 90 days of the issue date of the referral certificate.
Physical Demands: Heavy physical effort is required in constantly reaching, bending, turning, and moving hands, arms, feet, and legs to handle different sets of controls to operate the equipment and attachments. Considerable strain is caused by the constant vibration of the equipment and the jerking and jolting from operating over rough surfaces. Frequently lifts and carries items weighing up to 50 pounds and often puts forth similar effort when pushing, pulling, turning and positioning parts, assemblies, equipment and tools.
Working Conditions: Work both inside and outside with most of the work being performed outside. When working outside, worker is frequently exposed to inclement weather. Incumbent works in rain, mud, snow, and in hot/cold temperatures. The operator is frequently exposed to irritation or discomfort from dust, fumes, oils, solvents, and cold and dampness. Worker is frequently exposed to the possibility of receiving cuts, abrasions, bruises and strains while serving and operating equipment. Follows prescribed safety practices and uses safety equipment such as protective hearing devices and hard hats.
Documentation for the
Land Management Workforce Flexibility Act (LMWFA) eligibility,
submission of ALL SF-50s and performance information for each period of temporary/term employment that qualifies for LMWFA. Performance documentation can be obtained by contacting the supervisors for the positions you served in during your 24 months. If they did not complete performance appraisals ask them to provide a statement of performance for
each period of service. The statement must specify the dates for each employment period and your level of performance (dates should match the dates on the SF-50s).
