This is a Developmental position, it can be filled at the GS-05 (with promotion potential to the GS-06, then to the GS-07, or, Can be Fill at the Full Performance GS-07.
If selected at the developmental level, non-competitive promotion to the next level may occur when all regulatory requirements are met.

For The GS-5 (or equivalent)
Degree: Successful completion of a full 4-year course of study leading to a bachelor's degree (a) with major study in an appropriate field of engineering, construction, or industrial technology; or (b) that included at least 24 semester hours in any combination of courses such as those shown above for GS-3 (or equivalent). At least 6 of the 24 semester hours must have been in drafting if the position has been designated by a drafting area of specialization;
OR,
Certification: Engineering technicians may be certified by the National Institute for Certification in Engineering Technologies, an organization sponsored by the National Society of Professional Engineers. Certification by the Institute will be helpful as a measure of the technician's quality of experience.

Specialized Experience: One year of specialized experience which includes 2 of the following 3 duties 1) assisting with minor electrical repairs; OR 2) assisting with concrete and masonry duties including construction or installation of forms; OR 3) assisting with minor plumbing, electrical, or maintenance to facilities. This definition of specialized experience is typical of work performed at the next lower grade/level position in the federal service
(GS-04).

Combination of Education and Experience: A combination of education and experience may be used to qualify for this position as long as the computed percentage of the requirements is at least 100%. To compute the percentage of the requirements, divide your total months of experience by 12. Then divide your semester hours of education beyond two years (total semester hours minus 60) by 60. Add the two percentages.
For the GS-06:
Specialized Experience: One year of specialized experience which includes 2 of the following 3 duties 1) assist with maintenance and repair of all plumbing fixtures at lake area; OR 2) assisting with review of contractor work; OR 3) performing routine maintenance to facilities. This definition of specialized experience is typical of work performed at the next lower grade/level position in the federal service
(GS-05)
For the GS-07:
Specialized Experience: One year of specialized experience includes the following duties: 1) Preparing detailed work plans including specifications, recommended contractual support bills of material ; OR 2) Ensure that designs by others meet field conditions and original intent of work, OR, 3) Participating in solicitation of bids, when changes in conditions arise.. This definition of specialized experience is typical of work performed at the next lower grade/level position in the federal service
(GS-06).
