In order to qualify, you must meet the experience requirements described below. Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community; student; social). You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience. Your resume must clearly describe your relevant experience; if qualifying based on education, your transcripts will be required as part of your application. To qualify at the GS-09 grade level, you must have:Specialized Experience: One year of specialized experience which includes assisting in laboratory testing of soil, rock, and concrete materials; reviewing reports or other documentation as assigned/required; using office automation equipment and related programs as well as laboratory logbooks. This definition of specialized experience is typical of work performed at the next lower grade/level position in the federal service (GS-08)
To qualify at the GS-10 grade level, you must have:Specialized Experience: One year of specialized experience which includes performing laboratory testing of soil, rock, and concrete materials; reviewing reports or other documentation as assigned/required; conducting field inspections to include quality control inspection of facilities/operations in the field office; using automation equipment and related programs as well as laboratory logbooks This definition of specialized experience is typical of work performed at the next lower grade/level position in the federal service (GS-09)
To qualify at the GS-11 grade level, you must have:Specialized Experience: One year of specialized experience which includes coordinating, directing, and/or performing laboratory testing of soil, rock, and concrete materials; documenting test borings; coordinating data documentation and conducts field inspections to include quality control inspection of facilities/operations in the field office; preparing reports or other documentation as assigned/required.This definition of specialized experience is typical of work performed at the next lower grade/level position in the federal service (GS-10)
Time in Grade Requirement: Applicants who have held a General Schedule (GS) position within the last 52 weeks must have 52 weeks of Federal service at the next lower grade or equivalent:
Must have 52 weeks at the GS-08 for the GS-09 grade level
Must have 52 weeks at the GS-09 for the GS-10 grade level
Must have 52 weeks at the GS-10 for the GS-11 grade level
