Join Our Team as an Environmental Limnologist

About the Role

We are seeking a dedicated Environmental Limnologist to join our team at the Walla Walla District, where you will play a critical role in monitoring and enhancing water quality across various projects in the Pacific Northwest. The District is committed to providing top-tier engineering services, managing local water resources for diverse purposes such as navigation, hydroelectric power, and flood damage reduction.

Key Responsibilities

  • Monitor and study water quality in relation to Walla Walla District projects.
  • Conduct research and problem-solving related to fisheries and water properties.
  • Collaborate with district staff on limnological aspects of projects and studies.
  • Advise on and comply with Federal and state water quality regulations.
  • Maintain and develop expertise in water quality instrumentation.
  • Evaluate and analyze water quality data for district reservoirs and other water bodies.
  • Act as a Contracting Officer's Representative in related contracts.
  • Prepare and disseminate water quality reports and standards information.
  • Conduct fieldwork for water quality monitoring and data collection.

Qualifications

To be considered for this role, candidates must meet the following requirements:

  • Education: Bachelor's degree in biological sciences, agriculture, natural resource management, chemistry, or a related field, or equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Experience: At least one year of specialized experience in limnology, evaluating physical, chemical, and biological parameters of water bodies.
  • Ph.D. or three years of progressively higher-level graduate education in a relevant field is an advantage.

Additional Requirements

  • Valid State boat and driver’s license.
  • Ability to work in conditions requiring safety precautions and protective equipment.
  • U.S. Citizenship is required.
