About the position: This position is Non-appropriated Fund (NAF) and will be assigned to the Golf Operations at Wright-Patt AFB. Conducts troubleshooting inspections of assigned facilities, grounds, drainage ditches, and marsh and water areas for regular or irregular grounds problem.

Duties
Conducts troubleshooting inspections of assigned facilities, grounds, drainage ditches, and marsh and water areas for regular or irregular grounds problem. Surveys all water irrigation structures. Locates and identifies a wide variety of leakage. Selects equipment and sets controls to allow for wind, terrain, and population conditions. Wears personal protective equipment designed to nullify the risk of exposure to toxic dust and sprays. Assesses turf grass for fungus and/ or diseases. Ability to identify and diagnose solution. makes recommendation for treatment and preventative measures. Troubleshoots defects and diagnoses malfunction using inspection reports, diagnostic computer printouts, visual inspections, and auditory test and test equipment such as computerized engine analyzers, compression testers, test benches, oscilloscopes, multimeters, and special feeler and dial gauges to determine the kind and extend of maintenance and or repairs needed. Interprets and applies manufacturers' height setting and technical specification on complex lawn mowers. Correctly aligns fits all units. Provides technical direction and/ or help in accomplishing difficult work steps and processes. Reports any actual or potential work delays to supervisor. Investigates work related problems such as excessive costs to determine cause. Operates and maintains a variety of hand and power equipment/ tools. Uses wrenches, pliers, screwdrivers, and similar hand tools to perform operator maintenance on equipment, and to change nozzles, valves, and hoses, adjust and calibrate nozzle settings, and lubricate motors, pump, and agitators. Utilizes safety practices and procedures following established safety rules and regulations and maintains safe and clean work environment. Uses and assures proper fit and required safety equipment and clothing. Uses and maintains hand and power tools. Maintains records and documents actions. Complies with environmental directives pertaining to handle hazardous materials and hazardous waste. Performs other related duties as assigned.

In order to qualify, you must meet the experience requirements described below. Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community; student; social). You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience. Qualifying Experience:
Must have functional experience and demonstrated a mastery of facility/equipment maintenance. Must have knowledge and experience in the maintenance and repair of diesel and gasoline powered engines which included a full range of repairing, disassembling, troubleshooting and overhauling of small engines. Must have progressively responsible experience in golf course maintenance which provides a technical knowledge of turf propagation, cultivation, course equipment, drainage systems and controls, horticulture, and insect/pest control and various turf disease and remedies. Knowledge of grass seeds, fertilizer, herbicides, pesticides, algaecides, and soil and sand mixture. Knowledge of the makeup, operation, and installation of complex major systems and assemblies for troubleshoot and repair a variety of lawn watering systems such as Toro and Rainbird irrigation systems. Ability to interpret and apply manufacturer's repair manuals and technical specification, diagnostic codes, computer printouts, and safety manuals, and the ability to operate electronic test equipment. Must be able to frequently, lift, and carry objects weighing up to 40 pounds, and occasionally, objects weighing over 50 pounds. Frequently stands, bends, stoops, crawls and works in tight spaces. Requires a valid driver's License. Requires Golf Course Superintendent Association of American (GCSAA) certificate. Satisfactory completion of preemployment physical is required. This is a drug testing designated position. The incumbent is subject to random testing for drug use. Must be able to satisfactorily complete a National Agency Check with Inquiries (NACI)
Education

You must show proof the education credentials have been deemed to be at least equivalent to that gained in conventional U.S. education program.
