The United States Space Force (USSF) at Hickam AFB, Hawaii is searching for an Executive Director for SPACEFOR-INDOPA (NH-0301-04, GS-14/15 equivalent).

Description:
Step into a premier executive leadership role stationed at the historic Hickam Air Force Base, set against the breathtaking backdrop of the beautiful, tropical island of Oahu. Space Forces Indo-Pacific (SFI) is seeking a visionary Executive Director to serve as the critical nexus between the SFI Commander and key joint, coalition, and interagency stakeholders. As the Senior Advisor and Technical Authority to the SFI Commander, you will not just manage operations; you will chart the strategic course for the command. You will be the authoritative voice evaluating the impact of DoD, Space Force, and Combatant Command policies, eliminating barriers to mission accomplishment, and ensuring our staff directorates are primed to meet emerging threats.

Ideal Candidate:
The ideal candidate is a visionary and highly authoritative leader with extensive executive-level experience in space operations integration, mission sustainment, and theater-wide mission assurance within the USINDOPACOM area of responsibility. Acting as the critical nexus between the SFI Commander and key joint, coalition, and interagency stakeholders, this leader must possess exceptional strategic foresight and the proven ability to translate complex Space Force and Combatant Command policies into cohesive organizational execution. He or she should excel in navigating high-stakes negotiations, managing complex resource allocations, and driving structural efficiencies across multiple staff directorates. Furthermore, he or she should be a master relationship-builder capable of advocating for SFI equities at the highest echelons while seamlessly orchestrating facilities management, strategic partnerships, and robust mission support for operational units across the Indo-Pacific.


Key Skills and Abilities:
1. Expert knowledge of space mission expertise as a space component and support director, as well as knowledge of plans and programming, contracting oversight, public relations, personnel, and other HQ staff functions.
2. Comprehensive knowledge of Air and Space Force Instructions, policies, CONOPS, operating instructions, current legislative issues, other issues, and ability to apply knowledge to various mission sets to solve problems.
3. Skill and ability to lead technical multidisciplinary groups and resolve/solve complex technical issues at the strategic level.
4. Ability to communicate effectively, both orally and in writing to present clear and concise information on a host of complex issues, conduct high level, sensitive liaison and promote good public relations; formulate clear informational briefings to the Commander and staff, and write policy memoranda and reports.
5. Ability to plan, organize, and direct the functions and mentor, motivate, and appraise/evaluate an HQ staff of an organization through subordinate supervisors.
6. Ability to organize work, set priorities, and determine resource requirements; determine goals and strategies to achieve them; coordinate with other organizations; monitor progress, and evaluate outcomes.
7. Ability to identify problems and use sound judgment and decisions to generate and evaluate courses of action/ alternatives and make recommendations.

Requirements

Conditions of employment

  • Must be a U.S Citizen.
  • Must be able to obtain and maintain a Top-Secret /SCI security clearance.
  • Safeguards classified or sensitive and/or classified information in accordance with regulations to reduce potential compromise.
  • May be required to work overtime on an unscheduled or emergency basis.
  • Eligible for situational telework only, including Emergency and OPM prescribed “Unscheduled Telework”.
  • This position will close after 5 business days or 75 applications, whichever comes first.
  • Employee may be required to perform travel by military or commercial passenger aircraft in the performance of temporary duty assignments.
  • PCS/relocation funding is authorized.
  • Subject to Temporary Duty Assignment (TDY): Approximately 50 days per year.
  • Incumbent is required to file an OGE Form 450, Confidential Financial Disclosure Report, upon appointment and will be required to file annually.
  • This is a drug testing designated position. The incumbent is subject to pre-employment drug testing as a condition of employment, and participation in random drug testing.
  • Employee must within 30-days of assuming this position and annually thereafter, file an OGE-450, “Confidential Financial Disclosure Report.” Employee is required to attend annual ethics and procurement integrity training.
