Duties

  • Maintains, adjusts and repairs a variety of weight lifting, free weight and other equipment (treadmills stair climbers, aerobic bicycles, rowing machines, etc.) having mechanical, electrical and electronic parts, components and assemblies
  • Applies standard trade practices in diagnosing equipment malfunctions by referring to manufacturer’s diagrams and specifications, schematics and wiring diagrams and using test equipment such as multimeters and continuity testers.
  • Establishes and maintains equipment maintenance record on each piece of equipment. Updates records as work is performed.
  • Prepares and submits to supervisor yearly budgetary requirements for repair/replacement parts. Submits to supervisor requests for purchase of parts. Operates and maintains supply warehouse for storage of excess repair parts.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.

  • Satisfactorily complete an employment verification (E-Verify) check.
  • Frequently lifts and carries parts and equipment weighting up to 20 pounds and occasionally up to 40 pounds. At times, may push or pull larger assemblies weighting up to 100 pounds.
  • Work requires frequent bending, stooping, standing and working in cramped positions.
  • Typically works inside in areas that are usually well lighted, heated and ventilated. Exposed to noise, dust, grease, and to the possibility of cuts, bruises, abrasions and electrical shock.
  • Males born after 12-31-59 must be registered or exempt from Selective Service, see www.sss.gov.
  • Position, duty hours, location and/or activity are subject to change based on mission requirements.
  • Subject to satisfactory completion of all pre-employment background checks in accordance with AR 215-3, para.2 to include a Tier I investigation.

Qualifications

  1. Demonstrated work experience that furnish the knowledge, skills and abilities needed to perform the duties of this position consistent with accepted practices of the trade as indicated above.
  2. Ability to use and maintain appropriate tools and equipment.
  3. Ability to read, understand and apply instruction and other materials related to the job.
  4. Work experience must include repair work in the type of equipment mentioned above to include the knowledge of the hazards and safety precautions of the profession.
  5. Motor vehicle operation requires a valid driver's license.

  • All FWS employees are entitled to overtime work for work in excess of 8 hours in a day or in excess of 40 hours in the administrative workweek, whichever provides the greater benefit to the employee.
