Defense Finance and Accounting Services (DFAS) mission is to lead the Department of Defense (DoD) in finance and accounting by ensuring the delivery of efficient, exceptional quality pay and financial information.

Duties

  • Duties described below reflect the full performance level (GS-11). Duties assigned to an entry grade of GS-7 or GS-9 will be developmental in nature.
  • Member of provisioning access team to create, modify, and delete accounts on Department of Defense (DoD) information systems.
  • Researches and resolves complex issues by using automated systems and applications.
  • Monitor shared mailboxes for customer service inquires and provide solutions.
  • Analyzes systemic reporting to resolve invalid and/or missing data.
  • Prepares, reports, documentation, and policy to support agency internal controls.
  • Reviews and analyzes records, reports and data to identify automated systems and/or compliance problems.
  • Maintains all required qualifications in compliance with DoD directive 8140.01 Cyber Workforce Qualification Program as a condition of employment.

Qualifications

This position is developmental and selections may be made at the GS-7, GS-9, or GS-11 entry grade levels.

One year of specialized experience equivalent in level of difficulty and responsibility to that of the next lower grade within the federal service, which demonstrates the ability to perform the duties of the position, is required.


To be hired at the GS-7 entry grade level, applicants must minimally have:
One year of specialized experience equivalent in level of difficulty and responsibility to that of a GS-05 within the federal service, which demonstrates the ability to perform the duties of the position, is required.

  • Specialized experience is defined as: experience applying fundamental principles, concepts, and practices related to business, accounting, and information systems to assist resolving routine issues; gathering data from various systems or reports for review; and researching basic policies or regulations.
To be hired at the GS-9 entry grade level, applicants must minimally have:
One year of specialized experience equivalent to the GS-07 grade level in the federal servicewhich demonstrates the ability to perform the duties of the position, is required.
  • Specialized experience is defined as: experience applying financial and access control principles and practices to process and track information systems access requests; gathering and analyzing data and/or information systems to identify and resolve common issues; and researching policies and procedures to ensure that system access is handled in compliance with internal controls and applicable laws.
To be hired at the GS-11 entry grade level, applicants must minimally have:
One year of specialized experience equivalent to the GS-09 grade level in the Federal service which demonstrates the ability to perform the duties of the position, is required.
  • Specialized experience is defined as: experience reviewing procedures and recommending process improvements on an information system access team; monitoring and evaluating access requests to prioritize workload to ensure compliance with internal controls; and analyzing the impact of applicable policies of information systems and recommending changes to maintain compliance

Volunteer Experience: Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual, community, student, social). Volunteer work helps build critical competencies, knowledge, and skills and can provide valuable training and experience that translates to paid employment. You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience.

Education

GS-07 Substitution of Education for Experience: One full year of graduate level education or Superior Academic Achievement (http://www.opm.gov/qualifications/policy/ApplicationOfStds-04.asp) may be substituted to meet the specialized experience requirement. Equivalent combinations of successfully completed graduate level education and experience may be used to meet total experience requirements.

GS-9 Substitution of Education for Experience: Two full years of progressively higher level graduate education, Master's or equivalent graduate degree, may be substituted to meet the specialized experience requirement. Equivalent combinations of successfully completed graduate level education and experience may be used to meet total experience requirements.

GS-11 Substitution of Education for Experience: Three full years of progressively higher-level graduate education leading to a Ph.D. or equivalent doctoral degree may be substituted to meet the specialized experience requirement. Equivalent combinations of successfully completed higher-level graduate level education and experience may be used to meet total experience requirements.

  • Moving expenses will not be paid.
  • This position is being filled under the Direct Hire Authority for Certain Personnel of the Department of Defense via delegated authority by the Office of the Secretary of Defense. Positions may be filled as permanent or term with a full-time or part-time work schedule. Pay will vary by geographic location. Next steps
