Your resume must demonstrate at least one year of specialized experience at or equivalent to the
GS-10 grade level or pay band in the Federal service or equivalent experience in the private or public sector. Specialized experience must demonstrate the following:
1) Developing training and safety programs in accordance with regulatory agencies; 2) Managing the development and implementation of emergency medical services training plans; 3) Conducting course research, providing quality assurance, and maintaining budgetary controls for all training requirements; 4) Completing written reports of program effectiveness, training academics, and study outcomes in order provide recommendations. This position requires the incumbent to possess the following certifications: Airport Firefighter, Firefighter II, Fire Officer II, Fire Instructor II, Fire Inspector II, HAZMAT Awareness, HAZMAT Operations, HAZMAT Technician, HAZMAT Incident Commander, and NREMT. These certifications must be awarded by National Registry, DoD, IFSAC or ProBoard to meet the requirements. If you do not possess the certifications, you will be rated ineligible.
PHYSICAL DEMANDS:
Although the work is often sedentary, it involves regular and recurring field training and site visits. Visits involve a considerable amount of physical activity which includes walking, climbing, and stooping over rough terrain sites that are not necessarily easily accessible, often under the stress of extreme smoke, heat, and fire and hazardous/toxic material exposure as well as other physical demands of firefighting.
Must be able to wear protective clothing and equipment, weighing up to 100 pounds, while working in extreme heat and cold under adverse conditions such as fire and smoke. Ability to maintain alertness, self-control, and emotional stability to direct training operations. Climbs ladders and works at various heights. Must pass Navy firefighter physical examination annually and successfully participate in the ongoing Navy firefighter physical fitness program.
WORK ENVIRONMENT:
Incumbent is subject to work in extreme and adverse conditions during live fire training exercise and during times when filling in as the operational fire officer. Incumbent must be able to wear protective clothing and use self-contained breathing apparatus.
