Minimum Qualifications: Ability to do the work of a First Assistant Engineer, Towboat without more than normal supervision. Repairing electronic equipment, air-conditioning and heating, refrigeration, hydraulic and mechanical systems; Using test equipment, and other electrical meters to locate malfunctions - Failure to meet this Screen Out Element will result in an ineligible rating.
PHYSICAL EFFORT
Incumbent is required to exert moderate to heavy physical effort in operating and making repairs to engine and equipment. Parts, equipment, and systems are in hard-to-reach places requiring the incumbent to stand, stoop, bend kneel, climb and work in tiring and uncomfortable positions. Frequently lifts carries and sets up parts and equipment that weigh up to 40 pounds.
WORKING CONDITION
Work is performed primarily inside. There is some exposure to drafts, changing temperatures, and noise. When working outside, incumbent is exposed to inclement weather. Incumbent is frequently exposed to irritation or discomfort from dust, heat, fumes, and from hard, damp floors. Typically the machinery worked on is dirty, oily, or greasy.
