Duties
The Facilities Service Worker is responsible for performing various duties such as moving, arranging and lifting heavy objects including building materials, furniture and collections.
In this position, you will:
- Perform various duties such as moving, arranging and lifting heavy objects including building materials, furniture and collections; also loads and unloads debris, trash, cement, sand, equipment, supplies and other materials from trucks, vans and cars by using dolly, hand truck, hand operated hydraulic lift, and/or by hand.
- Operate gas or LP-powered, self-propelled ride-on and other equipment; performs the full range of operator-level maintenance and inspection to include inspection of fluid levels, tire pressures, and general inspection of equipment prior to operation.
- Operate forklift trucks on the loading dock, parking garage and other areas, loads and unloads supplies from trucks, moves supplies to the shipping and receiving area and to storage areas and stacks and unstacks materials in designated areas both inside and outside of the building.
- Assist with custodial tasks as required, custodial duties include cleaning offices, exhibit space, restrooms, corridors, storage rooms, stairways or any area within the confines of the building(s) using brooms, mops, buckets, heavy duty vacuums, buffers and scrubbers also snow removal.

Physical Requirements:
This position requires the physical ability to perform moderately heavy work including lifting and carrying heavy objects up to 50 lbs.; work outside in all weather conditions with exposure to dirt, dust, pollen and insects; climb ladders and stairs; and stand and walk for extended periods.

Additional Conditions of Employment:
Must have a valid State or District of Columbia driver's license. (You must submit a copy of your driver's license)
Must be available to work any one of the various shifts and/or assigned workdays that include holidays, weekends, and call back emergencies.

Volunteer work helps build critical competencies, knowledge, and skills and can provide valuable training and experience that translates directly to paid employment. You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience.
How You Will Be Evaluated
You will be evaluated for this job based on how well you meet the qualifications above.

- Ability to operate safely non-motor vehicles such as; propane powered forklifts, gas or LP-powered, self-propelled ride-on and other equipment.
- Reliability and dependability as a Facilities Services Worker.
