Qualifications
SPECIALIZED EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS: A qualified candidate's online application and resume must demonstrate at least one year of specialized experience equivalent to the next lower grade level GS-12 in the Federal service. Specialized experience for this position is defined as:
- Knowledge of and ability to manage operational and maintenance programs related to high voltage electric power systems.
- Ability to manage, provide advice, counsel or instruction to employees on both work and administrative matters.
- Ability to oversee and perform project management planning or budgeting duties (i.e. developing plans/schedules, estimating resource requirements, monitoring and/or reporting on project activities or accomplishments, developing project budget).
"Experience" refers to paid and unpaid experience. Examples of qualifying unpaid experience may include: volunteer work done through National Service programs (such as Peace Corps and AmeriCorps); as well as work for other community-based philanthropic and social organizations. Volunteer work helps build critical competencies, knowledge, and skills; and can provide valuable training and experience that translates directly to paid employment. You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience.

Working Conditions:
The work area is usually an office setting that is adequately lit, heated, and ventilated. The work environment involves everyday risks or discomforts that require normal safety precautions. The employee may occasionally be exposed to uncomfortable conditions in maintenance, transmission, substation facilities, or varying temperatures and climate when visiting outdoor locations related to the transmission mission.
Physical Effort:
The work is mainly sedentary, but may require some walking in offices, production areas, utility plants, facilities, and work areas. Some employees may carry light items such as briefcases, notebooks, work papers, and test equipment or drive a motor vehicle. The work does not require any special physical effort or ability.
