Duties
The United States Space Force (USSF) at Peterson Space Force Base, CO is searching for a Financial Analyst for SSC/Det 5 FM (NH-0501-03, GS-12/13 Equivalent).
Description:
The primary purpose of this position is to serve as a financial analyst, supporting the financial activities of space sustainment programs. The ideal candidate is experienced in commonly used budgetary methods, practices, procedures, regulations, policies, and processes of Department of Air Force to formulate, justify, and execute assigned budget(s) in support of programs related to the acquisition and sustainment of space weapon systems, subsystems, and/or equipment. Has demonstrated high levels of strategic thinking and leadership qualifications though various efforts, process improvement programs and data and analytics initiatives. Experience working in CCaR plus doing investments and Weapon System Sustainment from POM to Execution are favorable!
Key Skills and Abilities:
1. Knowledge of structure, programs and work methods of organization (s) for budgeting work.
2. Knowledge of the commonly used agency budget procedures, regulations, precedents, policies, and guides.
3. Comprehensive knowledge of OMB, Congressional, and agency financial management and program objectives, budget precedents and controls guidelines, and regulations.
4. Knowledge of Congressional, agency, and OMB budget processes, procedures, and requirements to include briefing formats and requirements.
5. Ability to communicate effectively, both orally and in writing, clearly, concisely, with technical accuracy and tousle computers and a variety of software programs and databases, gather and analyze a variety of program information, make sound judgments concerning program progress, and effectively communicate recommendations orally and in writing to higher organizational management and contractors.
6. Ability to select and apply a variety of analytical methods and techniques to budgetary processes and special studies.
7. Skill in projecting and analyzing the potential effects of budgetary actions on national economic, social, and/or political objectives.
8. Ability to develop new methods and techniques of budgeting applicable to the forecasting of long range funding needs.
9. Knowledge of budgeting regulations and procedures for providing procedural guidance on budget administration.
10. Knowledge of computerized budget system(s).
11. Skill in the analysis and resolution of complex problems.
12. Ability to gather, assemble, and analyze data to prepare financial cost estimates, develop alternatives and finding requirements, and make recommendations to resolve financial/funding problems.

- Must be a U.S Citizen.
- Must be able to obtain and maintain a Secret security clearance.
- Safeguards classified or sensitive budget-related information and/or files.
- May be required to work overtime on an unscheduled or emergency basis.
- Eligible for situational telework only, including Emergency and OPM prescribed “Unscheduled Telework”.
- This position will close after 5 business days or 75 applications, whichever comes first.
- Employee may be required to perform travel by military or commercial passenger aircraft in the performance of temporary duty assignments.
- PCS funding is not authorized.
- This is a Financial Management Level (1, 2, or 3) Certified position IAW the National Defense Authorization Act (NDAA) 2012, Public Law 112-81, Subtitle F-Financial Management, Section 1599d.
- Subject to Temporary Duty Assignment (TDY): 20 days a year.
- Employee must within 30-days of assuming this position and by 31 October annually thereafter, file an OGE-450, “Confidential Financial Disclosure Report.
- This position is designated a NON-CRITICAL APDP position.
