In order to qualify, you must meet the experience requirements described below. Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community; student; social). You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience. Your resume must clearly describe your relevant experience.
Specialized Experience: One year of specialized experience which includes 1) Directing the work of firefighting crews engaged in various activities to include, but not limited to, fire suppression, technical rescue, hazardous material response and containment, emergency medical response, assuming operational control at emergency incidents; 2) Providing training in fire protection and prevention; 3) Plan work to be accomplished; 4) Evaluate employees' work performance; and 5) Resolve minor complaints and grievances. This definition of specialized experience is typical of work performed at the next lower grade/level position in the federal service (GS-10).
Certifications - In addition to the experience stated above, applicants must possess the following Department of Defense IFSAC/Pro Board certifications: Fire Officer IV, fire Inspector II, Fire Instructor II, HAZMAT Incident Commander. NOTE: you must attach a copy of your certifications with your application otherwise you will be found ineligible.
Education
Some federal jobs allow you to substitute your education for the required experience in order to qualify. For this job, you must meet the qualification requirement using experience alone -- no substitution of education for experience is permitted.
