There is no specific length of training or experience required. However, you must be able to demonstrate, through experience shown in your written application materials that you possess the sufficient knowledge, skills, and abilities to successfully perform the work of this position without more than normal supervision.
Minimum Qualifications (Screen Out Element): Ability to do the work of a(n) Fire Extinguishing Systems Mechanic Worker ~ without more than normal supervision: perform fire extinguishing systems mechanic duties, conduct testing and maintenance of fire suppression systems and backflow prevention systems; install and maintain fire suppression systems and backflow prevention systems for both wet and dry systems, work with both electrical and plumbing repairs.- Failure to meet this Screen out Element will result in an ineligible rating.
- PHYSICAL EFFORT: Work requires long periods of standing, walking, bending, kneeling, climbing, and working in other tiring and uncomfortable positions. Work requires accessing hard-to-reach places. Frequently lifts and carries item weighing up 50 pounds and occasionally heavier. Work is frequently performed while on ladders, scaffolding and platforms
- WORKING CONDITIONS: The employee works in cramped quarters both in and out of doors where there is exposure to mud, dirt, dust, grease, bad weather, bad smelling fumes, etc. The employee will occasionally be required to wear a respirator to perform needed work. The employee will work on ladders, in lifts and aerial buckets requiring the use of fall protection. There is occasional exposure to the possibility of broken bones, burns from corrosives and regular exposure to the possibility of scrapes, bruises, injuries related to the use of power and hand tools, and infection from working at unsanitary work sites
